Ok Wth is alienware? If I get a tablet from wal-mart will that work? my wife said a smart phone will hook up with a tablet? Help me jump out of the 80,s THanks
Les may have hauled some hog loads I was leased to George Transfer so believe me I know what hog hauling is all about I can remember when loading at Wierton if you would not take 65000 they did not want to load you.I also am familar with the transfer yards in Gary and many many times I would put 2 45 singles on and go pickup an ltl to go with them and I also remember running 6 spoke dayton wheels because they would not break like the budd wheels would and IF you could get on the Pa turnpike you stayed on it even with a dancing trailer
Don't be in a big hurry to get invoved with your own IFTA.It's more of a pain in the *ss than any thing. Any way you look at it, you're gonna pay the tax anyway, if they can do the paperwork, it's that much less you have to be concerned about. ( Unless they're charging you to do it) Try to buy enough fuel to cover the miles in the states you run and you really shouldn't owe anything. I always had an issue with paying tax on fuel you never bought. If you run miles in a state and didn't buy fuel, they charge you tax on the fuel you should have used. What a crock!( It's a quarterly tax, so ,if you've been running a ton thru, say Illinois, it's probably a good idea to buy some fuel there.)
I've still got a 1980 Fruehauf with dayton wheels on it. Getting ready to scrap it. That is one heavy trailer. Its got the pontoon spring ride. License plates are becoming a major PIA also!
I want to start doing my own ifta because....I want to start doin it. I want to learn how it's done and I prefer doing things for myself when I can. And you aren't paying tax on fuel you didn't buy, you just bought it in a different state that may have had a lower fuel tax so you have to pay the difference. BHW hooked me up with a nice spreadsheet you just plug the numbers into to figure your ifta. Plates will be another thing, once The title to the truck is mine I plan on getting my own plates so no matter what would happen between me and whoever I'm leased to I can always drive away.
How does the CRST load board work and what type of rates are you seeing? are the rates on their load board before or after the 25% they charge ? do they break out the fuel surcharge and accessorial pay seperate from line haul rate? I know you said they load the fuel based on the run to the comdata card, how many mpg is the fuel calculated on to figure fuel advance? if i understood correctly you got two comdata cards, one for fuel one for pay settlement?
Gravdigr Thanks for this thread. I have been following. I am considering CRST. I have to decide to either go with their L/P or buy my own equipment. I prefer a step deck, have you seen any with CRST? Thanks again for the info!
Doug Olander in Sioux Falls Sd and Steve Emkin In Harlin Ia (they call it the Omaha terminal) are the guys that Have step deck frieght with CRST. They will most likely want you to have a 53 foot california legal dropdeck
Gravdigr I was rereading your post and came up with a few questions $340/month for the truck april through oct and $140/month from nov through mar was this the standard program or an optional one? Did you go with the CRST recommended tax service ? I intended to set up my own tax numbers and find a local accountant. Thanks
