Listen, try to get a '10. '07-'09 are notorious for engine problems. That was when they first introduced the dpf emissions and there were a lot of issues with the new emission equipment. As for freight, you can't go wrong staying in the IN, OH, TN area. Don't get sucked in by the 1,000mi loads. I generally haul nothing over 600mi, usually around 400mi. I get a load delivered every day this way and the shorter loads pay more per mile. Remember it costs you an extra 12cpm for maintenance if you are LP so you will make more on the short loads. I generally try to load in the morning, drive to the receiver and park at a close truck stop or if possible right at the receiver. Then be first in line to get unloaded, then head to my next shipper, load up, and drive to the receiver, rinse and repeat. I generally work 12 hours a day this way.

EDIT: by work I mean from the point I start my 14 until I start my 10 hour break is around 12 hours.

Well I went to GA and got a short load to NC and happened to find an agent with regular loads that deliver 30 mins from my home and they are available every week year round so I found my lolads home so I'm checking out loads on the east coats now. But before that I ran a lot of IN, MO (st louis), OH, IL. Nice runs from st louis area to east chicago and back for us steel.
