yea they are all gold trucks. most of them are columbias but once in a while i think they put out cascadias.
Don't expect much from the securement training. I don't know about birmingham but at eldridge we got the very basics. I strongly recommend looking at the flatbed forums here and talking to other flatbedders when you can at the lunch counter or at the shippers securement area. You will learn a lot that way.
Oh, and on the crst load board you will find a lot of $2+ per mile loads. There are also a lot of crap loads there from midwest flat, don't waste your time on those. Also keep in mind the rates on the load board are BEFORE crst takes their 25%. Also is there is no fsc listed on the load board with the rate then you do not get a fsc for that load.
honestly, no. I could be though. I'm usually around $750. But I'm not running hard and am still learning. When I was a company driver it took me about 3 months to start making good money. I'm expecting the same here. Keep in mind I don't have to make big money right off the bat I have financial security at home. I make enough to pay my costs, live on the road during the week, and set some aside in savings. After a year of being home 4 days a month the freedom of being able to spend more time with the family is more important to me right now than making as much $ as possible.
That is a great situation to be in with these trying economic times. I know that you are still learning, but if I were to do a L/P and run in the higher paying freight lanes like OH, IN, AL, ect like you suggested and stay out 14 days at a time, could I bring home after expenses and taxes over $2000 a week if I worked smart and ran hard? My situation is quite flexible as I really don't need to go home. I can easily shut it down on the road at a hotel in a good paying freight lane if I need to get off the truck or need a reset. I want to stay were the money is until I get the truck paid for, then I can relax a bit.
