On craigslist here in NE Arkansas and Memphis TN CRST Malone has several ads every week stating you can net 2000 to 2500 a week and 3500 is possible. Thats for a O/O not a L/O, so I guess that wouldn't factor in have u'er lease payment, trailer rental and maintance escrow and such. But I would think It would factor in insurance, plates, ifta and fuel est... all normal operating expenses. Do u think from u'er experance so far that that is a realistic number for net take home ??? if so it sounds pretty good.
the only difference between l/p and o/o money wise is the truck payment. the deductions are all the same.
So are the ads true ? to net 2000+ a week if u didn't have a truck payment. I mean if u work hard and know how to work their system. If so that sounds pretty good to me.
How does the Major medical Insurance they offer contractors look? any better than what you could find on your own. Also what does there basic securement equipment consist of.( ie number of chains by size and grade tarps by size type)
Wow, sorry guys I have been crazy busy with a bunch of stuff at home. My september is going to suck bad. I haven't even done my bookkeeping from august yet. Once I get that done I'll have a balance sheet where I can give you a breakdown of the deductions and my cost per mile. Not all the deductions are the same from o/o to l/p. If the o/o has his own trailer that's $185/wk less. Also the comprehensive insurance is based on the value of your truck. If your truck is valued at $20k your payment will be less than a l/p with a $40k truck. If you have your own securement equipment and tarps you won't pay the equipment costs. Also your maintenance fund per mile is less, I think 10cpm vs 12cpm for l/p but it may be even less. I haven't even checked out the medical benefits yet so I have no clue about them. That will probably be a winter project. I've been without health insurance since I was 18 save one year I was a company driver, I'm sure I can live a few more months without it. I imagine if you can take oversize loads you could probably get that much ($2,500+ net). I doubt you could do it just with crst freight unless you got a sweet set of dedicated runs with no deadhead and ran your tail off.
Well it started off bad an so far has gotten better. Had a load from Moncure,NC that loaded way late. I was there 8 hrs. Once I got it delivered to Archbold,OH (a day late) I got this little no tarp loard down to KY. Got it unloaded same day. Now I am sitting here searching the load board for decent paying loads.
Can anyone tell me if the freight is decent around Roanoke Va. area as in going out and coming into? I am considering the l/p as no companies are hiring locally. Thank you Terry Smith
Well said.I ve been an o/o for 10 years.Independent with my own authority.Yes some l/p deals are shady to say the least. But some are no different than o/o.I still have payments, ins, tags, taxes, everything these l/p deals have except maintenance plan and escrow.Just mine are not taken out by the week,I have to pay them when they are due.So I have the same expense.Go to the bank buy a 2010 anytruck with 3 to 4 hundred thousand miles get the payment book break those payments down by the week and you will not be far away from the weekly payments these guys are paying.God speed to you for trying to better yourself. If you make it (and you can make it)then great. If you dont just be smart enough to get out before you lose everything. And all these guys on here putting l/p down,if you dont want to l/p then why are you even reading these post. You just want to see someone fail,or put down other companies.Look at the expense help these guys and stop putting them down.
