dixieworkx what kind of work you looking for and where do you live? I was going to go Landstar, bought the truck got leased on to them got the trailer and wife had some medical problems and I sold truck within month of purchase. That might be a place to look at.
not really sure popcorn...one that pays and gives miles mainly i guess..while i have 13 yrs experience in driving i have none at all in all the paperwork {besides logs got plenty there} loadboards, qualcoms, satellites, even had to look up the definition of a lumper mainly cause it sounded like something in your britches when you havent gotten to a bathroom quick enough hahaha..i have about a year hauling mail as a c/d on an extraboard..you want fun get you some of that..they learn you will roll your phone rings within 3 hours of going out of service every single day/night wanting you back in at your minumum which is like 8 hours after going out...buck once they put you on every other day runs of 3 or 4 hours maybe 3 of those a week if lucky...my other two jobs were pretty cool, but hourly also..give me a truck, an american express platinum or a visa and send me on my way....one was delivering steel and machinery wide loads alot pay not great but decent job...the other i delivered disaster restoration supplies after hurricanes/floods/fires/etc..every load was a need it there right now emercency load so i was expected to work the books like a millionaire you know find every loophole and when that quit working throw them all away and start all over...i even learned a person could work an 8 hour shift, then drive 21 hours straight {no not me hahaha}..cool job though..i could put myself up in $3800.00 a week condos at the coast eat at black tie $100.00 a plate restaurants in my holey blue jeans all paid for and never complained about.....i'm just wanting to make good money, not have to put up with too much b/s while earning it..i drive..truckstops are only somewhere to get fuel..you want it there i put it there, usually {excepting unavoidable causes} ahead of time...how i was trained..every load is an emergency...might check on landstar....thankx
The first time I checked with Landstar was in Nov. And was denied. I've got a good driving record and everything else.. But because I started applying in Nov, every year after that, when Nov. came up, I was still denied. (Two years in a row) Until someone finally told me, that Nov. wasn't a good month to apply because the loads are slow and cheap. If I had waited until March, I would've probably been hired right away.
I thought Malone was all O/0 and L/O and most of them run solo flatbed. You sure you didn't talk to the other CRST Expedited VAn? They are all teams on that side.
not really sure...put in app at crst malone and got a call from crst something...i sent the recruiter that responded to my email a message but he hasnt replied....who knows ? not me
Just out of curiosity, do you have to do securement/tarp training if you have flatbed experience? And I seen the question asked about having someone (spouse) watch boards and preplan you, but never seen an answer. Is it possible to have a spouse contact agents and work with your FM when using an outside broker?
Hey GRAVEDIGR How much did you clear last year. Im thinking about leaving the natural gas industry and going OTR as a L/P
Not Gravedigr but I have talked to some l/p guys at malone that are clearing $1,200/week take home. They are working and not sitting to long.
