    Attention all Malone drivers,

What types of trailers are available for rent? I know an operator can bring his own but I was curious about Malone's trailers. Are they splits? Do they have axle dumps? Size? Weight? Ratings? etc. I just want to know if they're worth the cost of renting?

    Thanks guys!

You might get more responses if you post this in the CRST section of "Motor Carrier Questions".

As far as i know they are all lightweight aluminum with either a headboard...or without..but they are pushing the lightweight aluminum reitnoeurs with sidekits (covered wagons) ans thoae have atorage ra ks if you want to stow the kit and run straight flat. Theyre all 53 footers but i dont know the weight rating. I could predictably load 49500 with a half tank of fuel and be under 80 but only nucor steel as far as i know paid more per pound per load with crst. Hope this is helpful!

Very helpful. Are they charging the same rates for the covered wagon side kits? Where would these be helpful?

tHE NEWEST ONES ARE CRAPPY uTILITY (OOPS) and they now look like an old sway back mule from hauling heavy singles constantly.

Used to be good GDs, Rites... I had a new GD in 05 that had rear dump valve. When the valve dies I doubt if it gets fixed.

As far as i know...the rental rate is the same on ALL trailers. I like the covered wagons and i liked that i could stow it and run an open flat.

Are there many to choose from and when do you get to choose? During orientation perhaps?

All the rental trailers I have seen were 48 foot spreads. side kits are the only way to haul coils. Living in the Chicago area I would go with the side kit.CRST does maintain those trailers with no charge to you unless you damage something.Plus by renting you will be more inclined to work every week instead of sitting at home. These are my opinions only,A lot of people will tell you to stay away but I had trucks leased to the Malone side several years ago and did just fine with them.
