First off, if you got booted out of CRST because you did something stupid, don't post your BS here. I hate whiny arses
That said.
Started this last Monday. First two days went well. Had to come back home for a few days (CRST covered the expense) to take care of a medical release. Doc wont fax it, had to come back for it.
No worries though, my tail should be back on Monday.
The training center is pretty cool. Dorm style, three to a room. They have a lounge, pool table room, movie room, computer room etc. Not bad really!
I had one guy complaining to me about "how bad it was" I put him in check when I told him about my Driver Solutions experience in FT Wayne. Im like "Dude, this is the taj #$%$ing majal compared to the HallMark Inn". That said, he found another victim to preach his problems with.
My driver rep/recruiter/go-to girl has kicked butt for me since day one. Brandi...YOU ROCK!
Met some cool people in that place, cant wait to go back!
My advice to people looking at CRST:
1. Don't hide stuff on your app
2. Be on time to everything
3. Don't try to get to WalMart via shuttle on Sunday...trust me.
4. Study the Iowa Combination Vehicle's, air-brakes, gen knowledge BEFORE you get to Cedar. (I already had my permits) but watched people stressing hard over it.
5.Have your medical stuff in order!
6. Don't forget flip-flops and a few towels
7. BRING A GOOD ATTITUDE
8. Erase all the bad you hear about CRST. This experience is yours to develop into what you want it to be. Not what someone "tells" you it should be. Remember the saying about opinions?
9. Talk to the vet drivers, you can tell (mostly) who they are.
10. get your butt down that hill and meet your recruiter!
11. They will check your BMI and neck size if your a big guy/gal. If you need an apnea test, you have 6 months to get it done
12. Have fun!

Been here since sunday, so far so good!
Finally got to drive one of these beasties. It was a F-liner cascadia # Kirkwood.
My biggest problem is goin to be that I have to unlearn my old habits. I have a heavy clutch foot. Shifting 1 thru 6 goes ok, downshifting is a bit harder. gotta work on those RPMS. The school was what I expected. It was quite busy.
My trainer was very helpful. My homework involved a 20oz plastic bottle. Left foot "tap" "tap" just enough to depress the plastic, so that I can memorize the foot motions on the clutch.
Iowa on the other hand, did not care for my birth cert. (small hole near birthdate) So, they kicked it back. Worked with my recruiter a little and I have a new one on the way. So....at the earliest-I will be back on the range this coming monday. Until then I can hit the yard, find and old truck and just work on pre-trip.
Been a tough ride so far with my medical release which has finally went thru, and then my birth cert.
But it is what it is.
More later.
