CRST is a starter company. You should fit right in without any problems, students get fairly good treatment, as in, you will receive training and get paid for it.

As Professional-Trucker has already mentioned. Give us some facts!!
Now just back it up with credible information. This looks to me like Channel 19, West Memphis, Ar. truckstop guidance at this point...................
Jmsndvs........give us the real skinny on how to opt out of the Forced Per Diem. Is the secret(s) lurking in thr IRS Tax Code, State tax codes, etc???
Where does it say in the IRS (or any other tax code) that "you can get out of it with a letter from a cpa stating that you would be better off financially............
I'm glad that you broached this subject. Most of us were not aware that there was a way to refute mandatory Per Diem.
Thanks for the heads up. We'll be looking forward to the hard copy information from you.

Because most people who are complaining had no idea what they were getting into when they started this career. They can't handle the job and place the blame on others.
The other people who bad mouth CRST are ones who have been driving so long they forgot what it was like starting out. To hear them talk, their mother squatted them out onto the driver seat of a Kenworth and they've been driving it ever since...for about a thousand bucks a mile.
hellomcflywakeup Thanks this. -
I can tell you that you have to vehemently complain about the per diem. Then they will tell you you have to meet with the head of operations (I forget his name). Then, supposedly, you can get off the per diem. I say supposedly because the guy who tried never made it that far before he quit over the sleep apnea study stuff.

Head of operations? You mean Joe? Joe Mortemor? He's a swell guy! Ask him for something and believe me, if your question is valid and reasonable, (BAM!!) it's done. I had a great time while there. My wife was very supportive might i add. I met alot of drivers who had lots of problems trying to keep their jobs because of the wifee. That can be tufff. Again i always kept in mine that i was a rookie.

It's been a couple of years but all i had to do was tell my dispatcher that I wanted off as I had been doing my own Taxes for year's and it would screw up are taxes. Sadly Tiff is no longer there she left to go back to school. -
I havn't done away with my Perdiem yet, however that was what was told to me by both my FM and the Ops Mgr... I'm going to get something in writing though before I head off to the CPA on home time and drop a chunk of change on something that isn't for sure.

I did that train your partner thing and if you and your hubby can make it, by all means do it. My boyfriend and I ended up arguing the whole time and we were together for 2 years. We are now not on speaking terms. I personally would advise against letting your hubby train you. You guys should team after your 28 day training. He will not get any sleep and he's either going to be too hard on you or not let you do alot because you guys are in a relationship. Ya'll will get along better once you know how to drive good enough for him to get some sleep and ya'll run a team operation instead of trainer/trainee. And you do not get paid by the day, it's .22 a mile unless you sit for a week meaning you do not get a load for a complete 7 days, then as a student you get paid 50.00 a day. If you get a load for that week even if it's only 200 miles, guess what? You will not make 50.00 a day but you will make .22 for 100 miles, because it's all split. I have been with them for 3 weeks and I am broke, relationship is in shambles, and I'm waiting on another trainer, because my dude and I are arguing almost everyday and I can't stand to be on the truck with him anymore. Oh yeah, he quit too. He has 13 years experience and took a pay cut to come and train me at (corrupt, retarded, scandalous, trucking) hint: crst. I thought I was doing great by coming to this company so my "man" could train me, but nope, bad idea. He can also train you at Covenant transport, but you have to have your cdl before going there they don't have a school. Just my .22 cents.
