CR England trains together and they have their own school, but I don't know if they will pay for your outside schooling. It never hurts to check.. my advice is to not even bother with CRST. Even though your husband would be training you they are just a horrible company.

Thanks for the heads up on CR England, but at this point with our trucking sage "alls well that ends well" applies. After telling CRST I would not come back and go through more hell, hubby and I both got very nice local jobs within a couple of weeks. He's driving for a local trucking company and is home several times a week and always on the weekends, and I got a job with a home medical company delivering liquid oxygen to homebound patients. I only drive a van, but it required my CDL and hazmat because of the liquid oxygen, so I'm getting to use my CDL after all. The pay is great, I work long hours but I'm home in my own bed every night, and after 40 hours I get very nice time-and-a-half overtime, and the nicest thing is if I'm stuck in a traffic jam or someone holds me up for the deliveries, I am sitting there being paid an hourly rate, and I'm never more than an hour from home. For the first year or so especially I will make more than I would have made over-the-road, so my whole trucking experience didn't turn out as I'd hoped (driving with hubby), but it did lead me to a job that I am loving every minute of and being paid very well to do. The main lesson I learned is that I put up with a lot of crap and abuse from these CRST trainers, but I did not return their abuse and disrespect. I was respectful of them regardless of what they did to me and treated them with dignity and just trusted that God would take care of me if I did the right thing in the face of their wrong, and He surely has. :biggrin_25514:

Glad to hear you're doing well. You'll be a lot happier doing this job instead of running for a company like CuRSedT or C.Our. England Ad.

Well thank you to everyone for your thoughts. My hubby and I have done alot to thinking and talked to Covenant, CR England, Interstate, and Swift along with CRST. We have decided to go with our gut and go with CRST. I have heard bad things about all of them and have to go with what feels right for us. The worst stories that I heard about CRST involved women and thier trainers...my husband is going to train me so we can avoid that. There is no way on Earth that I would go with someone else for 28 days by myself. My hubby has some experience he got for a short time over 6 years ago, so he knows what he is getting into.

We both really liked CR England and would have gone with them, but we can't leave our dog and the only way they allow pets is if you do the lease program, which we do not want to do.

Interstate sounded pretty good but the pay is horrible.

We have met several drivers for CRST that are very happy. I think it also depends on your expectations. We have very low to no expectations so I think we will be fine. To me what can you expect when you are getting your training paid upfront. I know about all the deductions from the pay so we know exactly what to expect. And we are going to pay my school ourselves so my hubby is the only one who has to be contracted and by the time he can train me (after 6 months) his contract will only have 2 months left.

All I can say is pray for us and wish us luck!!!:biggrin_25515:

Well....I have a new update. Goodbye CRST...hello Interstate! I am so happy with our decision to go to Interstate instead. I have heard so many good things about IDC. I am now really excited. Turns out the pay is better as well, but that is not the only factor. The best is that they let us train together and we can have our pet with us once we get in our own truck. (CRST let us do that too, but CRE would not).

We are starting after the holidays. Can't wait to get going. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my chest now that we have decided to go with IDC instead of CRST. We don't have a lot of high expectations but IDC sounds way better than CRST. I am glad that I came to this board and sought feedback or I would not have ever even known about Interstate. Thank you everyone!!!

Well, given those 2 options, I think you made the right decision.

    Good luck.

I, too, feel you chose the best option between the 2. I hope you will be very happy with Interstate and I wish you all the best.

when you get thru to the 28 days training you wil not be able to take your dog.

also, as a female i would recommend that you get a female trainer

also, when you get out to th 28 day training period they will have a hard time getting u a female trainer, you must insist they get u a female, and REMEBER THIS

once you are out of the school to learn to drive and crst gives you your hire date at orientaion your 8 month clock starts ticking. so, if they take a few weeks to get u a trainer than you are still working against the crst 8 month contract. the contract starts when you get a hire date, that will probably be on a thrusday the day you complete the orientation

another thing, when you get to crst youw ill only make around $350 when you go on milage pay - i am at crst and I am not a contarct student I paid for my training at C1 school BUT my co-driver is - we run around 5500 to 6000 a week and I am almost twice what he makes I get .33 split he gets .22 split -

For a 1000 mile run I make $165.oo He makes $d110.oo , so, just be awayre that in the first month or two you will not make much at all and if you get a bad dispatcher you will be far in the hole with advances.

You really should look at shnider or another company, because they will let u train together on the ssame truck and pay a dog deposit, I think, a crst you will really be hurt for money in the first 6 months, make sure you get a cooler and buy food from walmart - the truck stops will eat up all ur money.

I am at crst and I am making ok money aroun $800 to $900 a week, my co driver is a new contract and he makes $400 or so a week

I also will say you have to start somewhere.

goodluck - you can reply back, but I am on the road, so i only get internet at idle air once a week
