Get ready for a very difficult year if he does. But it would probably be the same with any other company. Gotta start somewhere. Good luck!

Just crunching the numbers today as my husband, in his first SEVEN WEEKS at CRST has managed to put $1,000.00 into our checking account. Then I subtracted the food bill that he charges on our credit card and that came to an average of $125.00 a week! Is that normal? He and his co-driver have a frig in their truck and they both bought groceries when they were home the last time to 'save some money'. At this rate, it just doesn't seem worth the effort to me!

Right now I'm really ticked about it and plan to talk it over with him when he comes home this Friday. I might be able to be patient and 'tough it out' until he's earning more than 23 cents a mile! [Maybe by spring?] I am just really tired of juggling bills and running the farm alone! Big sacrifice for little return. Ok, end of rant.

In the meantime, anyone got any money saving ideas for him while he's out there so he's not charging our credit card at every meal?

Does it seem fishy that CRST doesn't tell them what their pay really is? No pay stubs, no nothing, just their 'balance'. He had to get an advance on his own pay to pay tolls back East! What kind of bonehead plan is that? And he's fighting them tooth and toenail to get reimbursements! Ok, I'm riled again.

I need to go calm down. Thanks for any advice on the money saving ideas!

Simple on the money saving. JUST EAT LESS OUT OF THE TRUCK STOPS LOL. Don't buy anything you don't need at the truck stop store. If you need something go to WALMART, EVERY THING IN A TRUCK STOP IS OVERPRICED. I am able to live on less then 70 bucks a week on the road. Would be less but I am a smoker and thats a costly habit.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it more than you know!

on the CRST pay site, the User Name is his Company ID number and the password is his SSN, is that right?

Sonic50 & vinsanity, are you both CRST drivers? I ask because my husband is pretty new with CRST and although his co-driver has been with the company three years and is helping my husband 'learn the ropes' and 'jump the hoops' [with the exception of financial management obviously!], my husband seems to go 'dumb' when I ask him questions about things concerning CRST ... pay, benefits, loads, all the truck stuff. I would be nice to get some straight answers from some drivers in the know!!

My hubbys team driver quit and left my hubby solo in Illinois 4 days ago. He is in need of a co-driver from Nebraska ASAP so he can get out of Illinois and back on the road. Is there anything I can do to help my hubby? Is there anyone I can call?

1st, if my guestimate math is right, they would have to be running ~1,600 miles a week total to make that little money. You can see how many miles he's getting paid for on his stubs. If they're not getting 3500-4000/wk bare minimum, something is wrong.

As for 2, the only reason he would have to fight for toll reimbursement is if he went off route. The only time they will pay for tolls is if they specifically tell you to go that way.
