First i'd like to say , How's everyone doing? I know every company has a + and a -. I'm currently employed at a produce delivery job. But @ 40 yr. old, no kids, no wife figured what the hell, might as well go OTR. Does anyone have an inside pros or cons with CRST? Now I know some of ya's will tell me to stay where i'm at. Problem is the job has no benefits and no movement for more money. Not to mention Jersey really sucks and too expensive to actually live like a human being. Any opinions good or bad are greatly appreciated! thanks!

Hey man, welcome to the forum! Everyone has their own personal wants and needs when it comes to choosing a company so definitely don't make your decision based on what some one else has to say. If you feel they will be right for you then give them a shot. I will tell you that your chances of success are going to be much greater with the smaller companies than the mega-carriers.
Do your home work! There are over 450,000 trucking companies in the US and you don't have to go with the ones that are spending millions of dollars in advertising to get YOU to work for THEM! Also keep in mind that companies like CRST, Swift, Werner, England etc... are usually all recommended by the recruiters because they are getting paid to do so. Like I said though do your research and go with whomever is going to best suit your own personal needs.
Other than that it sounds as if you are in a pretty decent position to be a driver. You already have some delivering experience and produce too! Maybe you should look into the reefer companies. They pay a lot better and your options for getting loads are doubled. There are also many other avenues of trucking out there that may interest you so do your home work.
Good luck man.... -
I agree w/ chompi. Do your homework, talk to recruiters look for threads in the forum about companies you may be interested in & pick the one you feel is best for you. I wish you the best in your search.

From what I've heard, NAY!
-
Isn't crst under investigation by the Feds right now? At least that's what I've heard? Something about way to many crashes and other violations. I've never heard one good thing about them personally. 3 drivers in the US xpress orientation I went through had just come from crst and all they did was talk bad. The one lady called them the killer company or something like that haha. Idk I would deff look around and see what some others say.

That aside, research is your best tool. I checked them out when I was coming back out and they had a 6 month team driver requirement that I had no intention of doing. Got confusing information from the recruiter from one minute to the next... so blew them off... quick.
But you may feel different. That's why you need to research to see what they want/expect and compare it to what you want/expect.
Good Luck. -
Personally, they weren't so bad to me, but at the same time I wouldn't put them at the top of my list either. They were a good fit for me when I started driving and I made decent money, but if I had to do it all over I probably would have gone somewhere else.
Also keep in mind you will have to drive team -
10/4 to that

Do your research and if you feel CRST will be a good fit for you, then go for it.

CRST, CR England, and Werner should be your last 3 options.
