Ok. So, my fience just called me and informed me that he had been fired due to "falling asleep at the wheel". Now to get back to this. He was released from his trainer who is a owner operator and gets 70% of the what ever the laod makes and who told him he was doing excellent and kept bugging him about staying on longer. He refused because he had already ran 3 extra trips for his trainer from flordia to california a few times. It was time to get his own truck. It was time for him to be droped off, and he was informed by safty that this may be his last day. Well, it was correct. All because of some trainer names chris from miami flordia decided that he was going to get back at him for making him lose money. Apperntly, after all of this got going, chris has been making complaints to dispatch about my fience for the past two weeks, but yet he wantes him to stay on to the next destination and even the next few so that he can make more money. Is this act of stupidity going to go on his record? Is their something he can do to fix this problem? The trainer also was new. Only their about 6 months.

He falls asleep at the wheel and it's someone elses fault? Does anyone take responsibility for anything anymore? This guy even has an enabler to seek out excuses for him. Man! just when I think I've seen and heard it all......

I think she was saying the trainer was making that up cuz he was mad because he wanted to get off the trainer truck and into his own company truck.

Yeah what he said. Her situation is probably a common place ordeal w/large companies like crst. Then add in the o/o set up and the miles he gets for being a trainer versus the miles/revenue lost while not training not to mention the fact that she declared that this trainer was new.
I am hung up on the "the trainer also was new" aspect to this unfortunate series of events.Rosie, could you break that down a bit farther please ma'am? Why would you think that the trainer being new played into the situation? Perhaps i missed something in your post or read while lacking comprehension.Either way,I am interested in reading how it played into the overall bad deal from your perspective.
thanks and best of luck to your truck driving man and to you.

Like Werner, and most others, they are happy to have you training, because it is cheap labor. what is training pay now? 200-250 a week. and then they can let you go after training. and if they can blemish your DAC, then maybe you will come crawling back for more punishment.

    ok breaking it down further......
Trainer number 1 was company driver. Had his training almost done, said he could be released, but he needed 13000 miles under him. That trainer had to go on home time do a family thing and he got passed unto this other trainer to finish his supposed to be one week with him. Well this trainer, was an owner operator, and new to the field also. With CRST, when you train, for the first week, the truck has to stop at midnight and the trainer needs to be with the trainee all the time.Theirfore, an owner operator was losing money and cannot take long runs because his student can't handle it. Its company policy. So when this trainer got paired with my sweetie, he was getting long run because my sweetie could take them. They went from miami to L.A. Trainer earned big bucks. My sweetie got next to nothing. He sent a message via qualcam to dispatch telling him my sweetie would be ready to be relseased by the end of the week. He agreed to stay on with the Miami-la run so he could make some money waiting for his co-driver to come off hometime. Dispatch called, his co-driver was ready for them to get their truck. My sweetie told trainer if they got a return run from la to miami, then he would run with him. They got the run into indy. trainer had sent a message to dispatch letting them know that my sweetie would be running the run into indy with him and he would drop him off their because he refused to take him right into ceder rapids with him because it would make him lose money and crst did not want to pay him extra for the gas. Dispatch then contacted them and and told them that in oklahoma city, trainer had a new guy to pick up, and sweetie had a bus ticket to ceder rapids and trainer was supposed to drop him off at the bus station. Well trainer took him to drop yard, and went into saftey and had a fit, saying a bunch of crap about him and telling saftey that he always fell asleep behind the wheel. Im at a lost as what to do about this...... Here is some questions i would love to be answered if this were true....... If he would have fell asleep, he would have quite on the spot. He never once fell asleep.

    1. If he was soo dangerous, and fell aslepe all the time, then why did the truck move nonstop to california, from miami? Why didn't the trainer kick him off the truck when the so called incident happened? (trainer are allowed to do that, if they don't get along or feel unsafe they can call dispatch and tell them that they don't want them on the truck.) Also, why did he send the message telling dispatch that he would be ready to be released on friday, the week before the cali run? Why did he send dispatch a message telling them that he would run the run to indy, (dispatch actually called my sweetie to verify this) if my sweetie fell asleep all the time? He said no, we was getting his truck, not making the run. Why did trainer number 1 say he was doing excellent and was actually ready to be released, but company said no, he needed 13000 miles?

In my conclusion, the trainer was mad at my sweetie for not taking the indy run and was going to do anything that he could possibly do to get him fired because he was losing alot of money by taking on a new student.

Because this company pushes out roughly 30 new drivers a week, they just take the trainers side, not caring about what actually happened and looking into the evidence that is right in front of their noises. They just took the trainers statement, and sent it to ceder rapids, not even getting any other information...

So.... 1. the trainer shold not be able to do this, and should be able to do this, and should be taught a lesson, and should not be training knowing htat he is nog going to make much money off it for hte first few weeks.

    2. they should have a person looking into the facts before just taking a trainers word. What about the next people that this guy trains, that he can't part with, i mean, is he going to get them all fired too because they all want to grow up and get their own trucks? Im extremly upset about this.

Sorry for the very detailed post. hope this helps. I do know that he will be calling ceder rapids tommorow to try to get this taken care of, but im scared that with them pushing 30 people out, they arn't going to care about what happened and not look into the situation.

Anyone have an ideas? Is this going to go on his record? Is their any way we can fight it? Will he every be able to drive for another company again?

Personally, I think it's all BS.

He has no accident, there isn't an issue. He'll be able to get a job somewhere else. It'll take time though.

It's mill wheel grinding another student to dust. Time for another cheap replacement, is all it is.

Just for your peace of mind.... Any new company will look at this and scratch their head.

We had a new hire with a 2000 mile unauthorized deadhead on his DAC. Safety laughed their ### off at that one. The guy was hired.

The trainer was new, and has not had the exerience to relize that he can change a persons life. If he signed on with the owner operator, and on top of that, a trainer, he should have been more prepared and not try to force someone who is getting his own truck, to stay with him so he can make more money, even when dispatch says that they have the truck ready and he does not want to let him go.

The fact that he was new and lease operator, tells me that the trainer is allready a screaming idiot. You do not lease a truck when you are new to driving, and training as a new driver is almost as bad. It is like the Stevens dumb and dumber rides. Nothing safe about it.

He should be fine. Have him check his DAC in a month. Then if needed write a comment to explain.
