Has anyone on the boards here heard of GodWink Trucking out of San Antonio,TX? Also heard that Plains will put you up in a camp in South TX. Anyone know about this and if they are hiring?

Colorado oil fields are taking off, dillon, links, tuttle, illini, rmt, rowdy, transpro burgner, etc. are hiring. Work conditions suck but should make just as much as tankers.... i've never hauled tankers, but i def need a job with more stable hours and time off..... might just go back to 48 state dry van, am thinking that dealing with parking,15k paycut, and 5 days off might just be worth and better than dealing with dirty-broken trucks/ waiting around all day for 1 load/ and no time off to enjoy life 30 days a month,as opposed to the sporadic otr issues.,

Been giving thoughts to CO. Was just up in Canada for the summer, companies in northern AB in the Tar sands are paying out the wazzoo for help. Not the greatest place to live, big Man-Camps, but they do hire Americans up there. Have a few connections in AB and may be heading that way next spring. Just want to winter out in South TX hauling crude if I can. I see that Plains is not hiring for South TX now. Interviewed with Martin, as good as hired on out of San Antonio, but they could not assure me I would be near Central TX to get home on my reset days. Told me I may be stuck in Midland or that general area. Ran down the road a ways with a crude hauler back in May out near Grand Junction, said he was running 5 days a week, 2 loads a day at $200 a load, weekends off. May be a possibility. Gold Spur provides lodging in South TX, you share a trailer with someone on the opposite shift, all bills paid for $500/month. Recruiter told me today their crude drivers are averaging $260-$300 a day, 4 on, 2 off. Anyone else that can add to this will be welcome. Thanks and good luck to all.

Yes only 90 miles away, anyone can drive over to see their yard, but thats far from being able to speak to anyone that has worked for them or knew anyone that may have worked for them. Just wanted some feedback, good or bad thats all.

If your an O/O Taylor/Gibson energy is a big player in OK and TX. You are required to lease their trailers, but can expect 15k/mo after expenses when the crude is flowing. Apache is supposed to drill at least 85 new wells in the next 8-10 months. If you want to run company driver than Connect transport, blueknight, high Sierra, Sunoco, and various Chesapeake affiliates are always advertising. If you apply for Sunoco be prepared for a 6+ hour physical. ALL of these companies want 1 year OTR experience AND at least 6 month tank experience. Hauling water in OK usually tops out around $19/hr. Some pay overtime, some don't. If you are inexperienced in tank and want to move to Oklahoma United Petroleum Transport (UPT) will hire green drivers straight out of school hauling fuel to gas stations statewide. They are also a very small player in crude. U can get experience there for #### pay then jump ship once you get enough tank exp.

Would be a pretty nice way to go if you could drive all summer up in Canada, then shoot back down to Texas in the winter to work.

For anyone looking at working up in Canada go to Indeed.com Canada website. Tons of listings. You will need to get a Canadian Social Insurance Card, only obtainable with a work VISA, but the companies will help with that. I have had mine for over 30 years now, they were easier to get back before 911. Be aware that the tax implications that accompany working up there involve paying on both sides of the border. H&R Block of all firms handle a lot of these returns and can offer some advice on what you will be paying. And it goes with the territory, the farther north you go the more likely your income will go up. Just know this, you will freeze your ### off!!!!! My ex-girlfriend's father ran a steam injection pump truck up in Ft. Mac back in the 80s. Told me he was out there many a night in minus70 degrees. Forget about living in a travel trailer up there, next to no RV spots, and way too cold to want to stay in one most of the year anyway. Driving through Lloydminster AB there were a lot of crude trucks on the road. Most companies run doubles up there. But there were a lot of job postings up there as well. Hope this helps.
