I have a 2011 Prostar with a Maxxforce engine and Eaton Fuller 13 speed. The cruise control works in the high split gears, i.e. 13, 11, 9 and 7. It does not work in the low split gears, 12, 10, 8, 6.

I've been laughed at by mechanics and told it's not possible until they test drive and end up eating humble pie. The factory uploaded the programming and inspected it. Created a new program, still not working.

Anyone know a parameter or sensor that can cause this issue? It's not funny when I am in California and cannot set the cruise at a speed that will not get me a ticket or have to set the cruise in 13th at 1150 RPMs...

    Thanks, Mike.

The cruise control programming is based on engine and road speed min and max limits. There is no input to the engine from a manual transmission about which gear or range you are in. You should be able to turn on the cruise, get the truck to the desired speed and selected gear and hit "set". I can't tell by your comment, but did they road test it? Did they contact International Tech Services for help? You said the "factory" uploaded the program. Do you mean the dealer? Did the dealer do any ECM calibrations? Do you have drive line protection or driver reward enabled at all?

it is splitter position problem. Cruise is off when you shift splitter. Spliter sensor reads low and high position. When no low and no high cruise is off till you comlite shifting and press resume button. Sensor stucks and reads low position only. in high position it reads nothing.... It is problem of MAN TGA truck. International use MAN TGA powertrain.

Not over here in North America. He didn't say whether he has 13 speed Ultrashift or just a regular manual, but they are both just Eaton transmissions, not MAN. With all due respect, you need to realize that the trucks and drivetrains and associated technologies are very different between our two nations. In North America, International does not use splitter position sensors on regular manual transmissions. There is absolutely no inputs or sensors anywhere for the engine to tell what gear you are in. The engine does have gear ratios programmed in it so based on vehicle speed and rpm it can calculate what gear you are in. If cruise is working in some gears, but not others, it is still a programming problem with the engine, not transmission sensors because there aren't any.
