Loading up for my last week of reffer and it is more of a cluster than I think I've ever seen it. I'm on AG exempt to save my hours and then run hard till I feel the need to stop. I'll only make it half way to my destination and will probably sleep out in the desert tonight. Then tomorrow if I'm lucky I can park in the dock while they are closed so I don't have to start my clock to get unloaded. It's a hard place to get into but they have nice people there. Then high tail it back home hopefully in time to take my wife to see The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
I'm not complaining it's just the normal reefers life and why I'll be glad to be back in tankers. It'll be nice to work by my old philosophy again. "Work as fast and efficiently as is safely possible and turn over the rest to management." With tankers all I had to do was my job, as long as I lived up to my part all other headaches were management problems. I of course would do what they said was needed to remedy the problem all while being paid for all my time and effort. I do like tanker work.:)

If you're anything at all like me, your will later look back on your time in reefer as a blessing.

    Why?

Because....having previously done reefer...it will change/widen your perspective....and you will appreciate your (next) tanker job A LOOOOOTTT MORE. :):p:D

The part that took the longest with my app was the pre employment verification. They went through EVERYBODY. I had to give w2's for the past several years. What was irritating is that they would only request one at a time, and these were employers way down the line.

I've been given the opportunity to choose local or team at Linde.
    Local is well local.
Team they say pays about $40k but it's teams.
I have no idea what both truly entail.
I have to give them a answer tomorrow.

    Opinions are more then welcome.

I'm still working on my background so I'm not officially working for Linde yet but I'm getting close.

I did team for a year 11 years ago. It was OK but hard to sleep till the 3rd night when you were so tired you'd sleep on a 2×4.
Did you mean to post 40K more?
That's a good chunk of money to leave on the table. You won't know the dude you're teaming with but if you are easy going and adaptable you may survive a year+..lol.
You can always bid local next bid right?

Local is different at all plants. We typically run at best 300 out and back but have lots of customers beyond so we layover 2 -5 times per month but don't know how your plant works.

Our plant is down for a week w scheduled maintenance so they sent me to Madison, Wisconsin to pick up but due to an accident and construction delays they(airgas) were closed so they said go to E Chicago. Loaded and then headed up near Green bay. Laid over Tuesday in Northern Illinois then made deliveries on Wednesday. Then they sent me to Madison where I laid over last night and did 2 trips today.
Ran out of hours at customer and currently waiting on another driver to run the pickup out to me while he drives the truck 60 miles back to plant.
Point is local ain't always local.

    @scott180 --

No disrespect intended here to other replies....I'll keep it simple:

    a) If you're married (& especially if you also have children at home)--then I would go for the local option.

    b) If you're single (with no dependents living with you at home)--you could then pick the team option.

Should you choose the team option--it will be interesting to see how long it takes you to get used to sleeping in a moving truck--while a stranger (basically) does the driving.

The irony here...the above answer...is from someone who's never been married. :p
