Truly thanks for the replies. They say here in UT It's about a $40k difference.
My main goal right now is a house. My wife and I were wiped out financially by a medical issue that's been taken care of but the idea of her being at the mercy of landlords when she gets old is unacceptable to me.

With local I assume I'd be working nights.

So here are my thoughts so far. With her working we would miss each other during the week anyways. So local doesn't help that.
I only live 25 minutes from the yard but that's still 50 minutes of gasoline a day.
Her work gives her Sunday and a mid week day off. If we spend my first day off together I can properly prepare for the coming workweek on my next.
The difference between $90k and $130k is huge even after taxes it'll be about $25k, likely a little more but I prefer to low ball when making financial decisions. If I can tolerate teams for five years that's $125k towards paying off a house.
I've only teamed with my wife. I worry I'll get a jerk as a partner. And how do you handle bathroom issues? I'm very tolerate to a point. The problem with being easy going is some people take it personally when you politely but firmly tell them they are crossing a line. I hate drama.

They said that when local opens up the team drivers have first dibs before they post it for the public. No one there is jumping on local from teams so that's a good sign.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. A decision needs to be made today and me and the wife are still on the fence.

I always used the toilet before departing the plant and at any stop.
We had a agreement if I just had to p he'd pull into a rest area, or an exit if night, and if I had to take a sit down the first truck stop or rest area.
Never became a problem for us anyhow.
Unless policies have changed they've only hired experienced drivers so your partner would likely have the same concerns as you.
We used to have all teams here 20 years ago.

If you both are working for a future goal you'll make the schedules work.

I assume you'd cover the entire inter mountain west since Colorado, California and Texas all have plants and Phoenix has drivers working from a competitor plant.

Here in MN we service over 400 accounts and will cover for other plants as well. About 11 states and I'm considered local so...
Lots of rules but have become a non issue for me.
Get fully ingrained in the culture and you will be able to call your own shots. Whether that's staying team, going solo or transferring elsewhere to finish your career. Just make sure you give me a shout out if you ever end up filing at #998

And as far as a drive to work goes you got it easy...And would be the least of my concerns.
We have several w an hour+ drive and just had a guy quit who lived on the Iowa border.

Just curious...if you pick one option over the other--how long is it before you can change back to the other?

Either way....keep us posted on your progress.

I let the boss know I'd like teams.
More money to go towards our goals.
Local would likely be a 1800 start time so I wouldn't see my wife anyways.
There are currently three local spots available here at the Magna UT location and the team guys aren't grabbing them. That says something positive about team driving.
    But mainly it's the money.

Changing over to local isn't too bad. They said you need to commit to a year as a team driver and then when the bids come up you can go local if you wish. Of course this depends on if they have a spot available and if someone further up on the seniority list doesn't want it.

I am still waiting on the background to finish up, but I'm hoping to go to work for Linde soon.
Every one I talk to seems happy with Linde. The only negative is you must follow the rules. I think I can do that.

Sorry, for the late reply, I'm not on here much anymore. Keep any training sign off paperwork, actually keep any paperwork that you've had to sign and send to someone else, then put it in a box somewhere. I have never seen a company loose more paperwork than this one..

You will be given a Linde 'Bible' Study it Memorize it. Live it. The work isnt hard. Following all the Linde Policies will be.
The 2 leading reasons People have been fired in my area are cell phone use while driving and moving the truck without having a seat belt on. The second your butt hits the seat, put the seat belt on. Do it, until it becomes muscle memory. The phone? Thats an easy answer.

You are always being watched at all times. CYA at all times for your safety and for you career. Remember that that Yard has been hiring for over 18 years. Protect yourself and Keep your resume fresh and keep an eye on the local job market , So you arent surprised if something happens on their end or yours, and save enough emergency money to sit on for a month or two while you on board somewhere else, just in case something happens. But I do hope that you have a long and fruitful career there.

    Good Luck.

No, not yet. I'm considering moving back to the coast. I don't like living in Portland and I'm tired of the drama at this particular Barn. I wont go into said drama as its relevant to only this terminal. I may be able to go to work at another Linde Terminal in Hilsboro. They do all the other products that we dont. But that may be too much of a commute form the coast to do 5-6 days a week. I'll have to run some test scenarios on paper to see if its something feasible to do.

I've been the target of drama before. False accusations and rumors can make work life miserable. Especially when you don't know what the heck is going on.
My reaction wasn't what they expected though. I walked up to the person when he was in a group of people and politely warned him that people were saying he was talking ill about me. That that couldn't possibly be true because the things being said weren't true.
Put on the spot in front of others he ofcourse said no,no those things weren't true. I just left it at that. The group would get the message out fast enough.
But damage to my reputation had already been done.
Grown men acting like teen-age girls, I'll never understand it.
