    Its just repetition and developing a routine, you will get it. One thing that has helped me in the past, not only with Tanking, but in operator positions. I will take a picture or draw a pic of a process or of the truck and I will draw my routine on the pic or write notes and I go over it, again, and , again, and again. You are just developing routine. Take a pic of inside of the doghouse and memorize the plumbing. Shoot video of the trainer going over procedures and review them. You have alot of tools in your toolbox to pull from. You can do this.

    Our work is a little different as I can deliver to anywhere from 1 to 7 customers in a day, with the average being 3-4, so roughly 15-20 drops in 5 days. Lots of practice and I still make a mistake here and there. Just a single delivery of CO2 has a 72 step process. I couldn't tell you what they are verbally , and I don't do it in the order they want, but I still make safe deliveries and I'm not damaging equipment

    Its ok. Learn from it and follow the procedures in your bible. Its going to be chinese, until suddenly it's not.

    If you have never done it. It takes 3-4 weeks. For me I asked my trainer one day if he could stay in the truck so he wouldn’t be there and I was on my own and that helped me a lot and that’s how I made it work for me. Also one day it will all just click. You gotta find what works for you. If you are a troubleshooter then maybe ask the trainer to take a step back and let you do it on your own with no help

    As of the time of this writing....with another recession apparently getting started (other Forum threads here definitely now show a slowdown/softening of other freight)...what part(s) of the cryo world do you think will (also) start to slow down (if any)?

    Or......will most of the cryin' stay outside of the cryo world? :p :D

    We have slowed a bit.
    We're kind of a bellwether of changing economic conditions since so many industries use the products we produce and distribute.
    But while some sectors slow others increase.

    We last laid off in 2010 I think.
    Nothing more than a day a week or so.

    If things get real bad they could reduce everyone's hours but we are guaranteed 40 hrs.

    The thing about the industry is even if you aren't pulling liquid at your business it is still gassing off in the tanks so maybe we just drive around topping off customers..who knows.

    I think we are in a recession now.

    @Dennixx --

    In your above post, you said that while some sectors slow, others increase.

    What cryo areas have you witnessed that actually increase, in a slowing economy?

    Nitrogen use, maybe?

    Nothing in particular but many in general.
    We see more OX use in hospitals w seasonal flu and rsv.
    N2 as manufacturing slows but food processing increases due to the holidays and military related production.
    My co worker checked out last night, it was his Friday and said he did 67.5 hrs for his week. I am over 112K for week ending 11-13 so I'm personally not seeing a slow down, on the paycheck anyways.

    @Dennixx --

    Linde has a position they call, "Rest and Roll".

    Is this basically the same as "call & demand"....or is there some difference?

    Would this type position be location specific (i.e., qualified applicants must be within xx miles of a terminal)?

    Please explain/clarify.

    Thnx!

    Not sure where this is located but basically you put out fires caused by heavy use customers, overlooked customers or inefficient dispatch.
    In a day cab we are sent (volunteer) to another region for a week or 2 and just basically do back and forth between their plant and customers, "resting" for 10 at the hotel, then "rolling" till time for next 10 off.

    Or it could be a sleeper truck that does basically the same thing but would run regionally or nationally. Sometimes a team.
    Some of those guys work like 3 weeks then fly home for a week. Rinse and continue.
