Hey drivers out there! Ive got a simple and quick question that I cant get any of the big wigs or cust. service to answer for me for all the big companies (AirProducts, AirGas, Praxair etc.):

Can anyone tell me how often cryogenic trailers have to be refurbished/reinsulated??? I know the size, cryogen transported and travel all affect this question, but an estimated timeframe would help me with a project involving crappy perlite insulation in trailers (you guys know the issues: jacking, compaction, settling, corrosion, etc.).

Please someone respond to this! Its driving me crazy and I need this information soon. Im thinking an avg. 6000 to 7000 gallon trailer carrying either nitrogen or oxygen would be the average trailer I would need...is it 5years? 10?

cryo trailers don't use insulation. they have a vaccume between the inner and outer hulls. i don't remember the retest time, but i do remember it is different depending on if it is a high or low pressure vessel. high being opperating up to 250 psi and low less than 20 psi

Actually both cowboy...... was perlite and vacuum and now it's an insulated wrap and vacuum.

Refurbishment depends on use. Also depends on service....... don't really care if N2 trl. looses vacuum and vents load off but really do care AR trailer does same....and can't really let O2 trailer vent off. Too many stupid people around.

Some INS units over 30 yrs. old and still hauling. Even have some old 903's and 555's running and a bunch of Detroits.
