I just listened to the Prime Safety CD. Now it sounds to me that Prime is hoping to see a shortage in "qualified" drivers in the near future due to CSA points. Rather drivers being eleminated from the work force because of the points that they can rack up. They also paint a picture of increased rates and new shippers. Your thoughts...............?![]()

Seems to me, only their bottom line is in their mind.halfburn Thanks this. -
Yes, I have a thought. When are they bar coding drivers? Will we have a choice of the back of the hand or will the forehead be mandatory as it can be seen from a satellite?
-
New shippers would get us more loads and more miles... unless I'm not mistaken, I think that would be good for drivers too.
By the way, you sure assumed alot from reading his short post. -

I think the ultimate result will be less trucking companies, but larger in size. Smaller independents will be squeezed out.
Much like has happened in retail, banking, printing and oh so many other industries.
It is much easier for the government to control several large companies than lots of smaller ones, as well as extract 'donations' to the parties.
I don't think much will trickle down to the drivers. We are the peons and will likely be so for the forseeable future.
Just my jaded opinion.thecoxster, JustSonny and ironhand Thank this. -
The smaller outlaw cutrate outfits will be effected, they will just have to change names more often!
JustSonny Thanks this. -
They've been talking about it for months as to how it is going to affect drivers, companies, and the industry. I would sort of expect to get the "company outlook" at a company meeting. The main thrust is that this, overall, will be good for Prime as they have been attempting to stay ahead of the curve on many of the issues CSA 2010 is meant to address. As to a driver shortage: aint gonna see one with double digit unemployment rates. -
More than likely it will be an available truck shortage. A lot of machines have been taken off of the road - sold and shipped overseas.
