Hello, I don't know if this is the proper place for this question.. but can someone please explain to me (or point me in the right direction) what CSA2010 is? I dont understand one bit of it! I've gotten a few warnings in past couple of months (2 for not writing down the mileage driven each day, 1 for not writing down when I fueled up and 1 for not having proper size reflective tape on the trailer). My driving record is far from good, am I in danger of loosing my CDL because of these warnings under this 'new' law?
CSA 2010 ???

From your post I would start with learning how to properly fill out a logbook. Lots of info on the net for that. There just being picky about the tape.

You need to stop and do your log book proper at least every four hours. Do a walk-around, check your tires and make sure if you get stopped by DOT you dont get dinged for something you could have fixed or wrote down.
Lots of driver should start carrying spare bulbs for the clearance lamps cause that will ding you right there. Yeah, you have to put down your mileage everyday, even if its zero. -

Here is the dedicated website, it gives a good over view of the program. Its no longer called CSA2010, it's just called CSA now that it has been implemented in all 50 states.

Stop and do your logbook every 4 hours ????

Under CSA 2010 you have what I like to call a "credit score" as a commercial driver, except higher numbers = bad news. Different violations add different amounts of points to your score, and at a point, it becomes bad. What CSA has done is put the drivers ### on the line, as it should be.

CSA is for any DOT or law enforceable incidents and not something your company dings you with such as not filling out your trip sheet correctly or if the company writes you up for adding the log book up wrong.
BUT if DOT did write you on your log book then it would go on your "CSA" score.
Or if you got a DOT inspection and had a bad light, tire, brake or anything covered by the FMCSA. You'll get points on the CSA
Get a ticket from a police officer of any branch pertaining to your CDL and it will go on the CSA score. That's from speeding to running red lights or failing to maintain a safe distance or just crossing a line!If it's written in a "rule book" or is a law then it's going to have some kind of point attached to it!
CSA has no "rules."
All CSA is doing is reporting what you should have been doing all along. Like obeying all these rules that have been in effect since FMCSA came into existence! They are showing where you screwed up with some offence.
It used to be that the companies paid for our mistakes when it came to log book infractions, or an accident or non compliance to anything in the FMCSA rules.
NOW we the driver gets to "foot" some of the responsibly.
If you can't fill out a log book with all the written or software help avaliable and you drive over those 11 and totally miss that 14 hour cut off and that officer catches you then you get to pay a really insane fine and so does your employer!
If you do a seat PTI or just look in the mirror and say that's a PTI when you have a cracked drum, flat tire, burned out marker lights and head lights, oil pouring out of the engine, one chain on a load then YOU get to help the company pay the fines AND get points on this CSA report.
CSA will hopefully put DAC/USIS/HireRight or whatever name they are going by this week out of business! All the screaming you're hearing is coming from drivers that are not brightest bulb on the string or the most careful "professional" in their job!
CSA is going to force all of us into being more careful at our jobs in things like slowing down and watching those oh so pesky speed limit signs, weights, equipment in good working order and that barbaric logbook until everyone is on e-logs then if you get a writeup from DOT on a log then you deserve to get those points!
Now also with CSA, companies are going to have to get more in line with maintenance on their equipment and no more of this bullcrap of get it back to the shop, but getting things that should really be fixed on the road fixed on the road! It will be, get it fixed or get points and points in this game means you lose the game! It's not how many you get but how many you don't get!
This should also tell you when you are doing that phone interview and you ask them about road repairs and they say "Oh we'll get you back to the shop for those," it should tell you that you'll be gaining points with these bozos and to hang up and make the next call!
Your CSA points will get your livelihood removed from your pocket. It will have companies shut down but the worst is what it will do to you or at best what it will do for you!
No points, but some dumbarsed DAC report and I'll bet you a dime...no a dollar to your dount that your next company will say HEY! Great driver, NO POINTS! Over that sad DAC that says you hit a bird and BFI called it an accident not an incident and they fired you for it!
Me if I was in HR I'd forget all about DAC as I've seen a lot of those "stories" and I'd rather have a nopointer over a DAC any day! Ya know I think we'll be seeing some new termoniolgy soon as to what we would cal, the CSA point system!
Nopointer is a good CDSA score
highscorer would be an unhirable driver due to too many points meaning he's a DOT Pet (teacherspet) Or Heck DOT PET would be the same!
Ok! We have something to post about! NEW TERMS!
DOT Pet
No Pointer
anyone else have one to put in here about this or should I.....................
OK new thread soon! -
Oooops Several posts since mine. I'll shut up now!
