So how would you compare companies?

Or are you just saying the groups should be narrower?
    EG: 1truck, 2-5, 6-10,11-20...............101-110?

Size of company and then break it down by type of freight. Throw the flatbedders together, reefers, vans, tankers, etc. compare apples to apples. Carriers that haul everything can have their own category. If we're going to compare lets compare like products. I'd just rather not compare at all and have a certain point total, if you exceed whatever percent bad then you're bad. I don't care if my 10% bad is better or worse than your (assuming your my size) 12% bad.

    Tazz Thanks this.

Not sure point tootals would work.A company with 10000 trucks would rack up what would make a hundred look positively outlaw.

I can see the flat to flat comparison assuming all encompassing (RGN,Drop,Double Drop,Beaver atil.......) catagory. I guess comparing how many securement violations TMC gets compared to say FFE is slightly skewed. The problem is gonna arise when you have companies like Prime, Western Express, Swift, UPS and others that run multiple types of equipment.I think putting those in their own seperate group is gonna make the percentiles even more volatile as you reduce the peer group numbers.

Not sure what a better fix would be.

Still whole heartedly believe there is no negative to tracking peoples and carriers inspection history.

I'm with ya, I'm not opposed gathering data and using it to modify behaviors. I think it's safe to assume that anyone driving thinks that their are drivers that have no business being out there. While I'm not sold on CSA and I don't like percentile rankings something needs to be done. Holding carriers accountable doesn't do anything because even a bad driver will make them money.

why not just make the system on a per driver and vehicle basis?
If you or your vehicle keeps getting the same violation then you have a problem and not everyone else? This one size fits all is only good for morons who don't understand what this system is really about?? Ther next great system to cost even more and be more in our personal business.

Tazz you ever watch or read Tale of Two Cities?
If so remeber when the main character is going to a "far better place"? and doing a "far better thing"?
Imagine them building 8 seater version of this "machine of understanding"
here? we could have lahood, ferro, pelosi, bohner mcconnel, reid, biden and obama all doing a "far better thing" for US at once??
Now that would make a good movie you think?

It's not a one use machine. It could reused MUTIPLE itmes.
They won't be happy till freight is moved with robotic trucks on green energy.

that wouldn't last long till the gas stataions ran out of fule and stores out of bread and least but lastly wal mart runs out of cheap crap made in china.
There will always be a need for transport of some type and I think trucks will be a part for the forseeable future. Now whether we're included in that is in question?

    You missed the point.

They have no clue as to why trucks are there. Just that they are in the way.

Most do not even think how food, fuel, toilet paper and etc. get there.
