well, when i finally get enough points to be black balled from this industry, i will consider it a blessing in disguise, and go get trained to do something else. like i should already have done. problem is, almost every other industry i know anything at all about, has the govt crawling all through it too. at some point, we ALL need to start standing up to the govt on principle. there is an old saying "give them an inch, and they will take a mile". mom used to say that to us. well, we have given the govt a lot of inches. we need to start getting involved in the election process. need to ask the candidates the hard questions about who they would appoint and what they believe, and then hold them to it. also, even if it costs more to fight than the ticket was, gotta fight it. these cops will quit writing as much bull.... tickets if they know they are gonna be in court over almost all of them. as far as CSA goes, it is here for now, but i bet there are current and future politicians who would be willing to help get rid of it. we just have to start getting more involved, somewhere besides arguing with each other on websites like this one.

Not enough money in it for any politician to get rid of the CSA and points.

They are quite content with the result and the growth of their power over the many years in the regulation of this business. It was stated when they did the hours in 2003, that more control over the industry would be needed.

I believe that we are most likely headed to a socialist state as long as Obama is in the White house and the Democrats have the majority in congress. Pretty soon the government will not only regulate the trucking industry, but own it. :biggrin_25513:

In case you did not notice, it started down the current road right after 2003 and Obama and Democrats were not even in control.

Keep thinking that one is better than the other if it helps. :biggrin_2559:

goes back even more than that. Patriot Act did wonders with that nightmare...

And goes back even further to the initial CDL implementations.

He may be having trouble finding a job because a potential employer might look at this one inspection, and see that he's a little relaxed when it comes to maintaining his equipment. That's probably why he received all those violations as well. IMO, if a DOT officer does a walk around and sees a light out, then sees a high beam out, then sees a bad tire, then sees a cut in his tie down, he may assume this guy doesn't care, and rightfully so. Companies have to think about the liability of hiring people. Everyone has a attorney on speed dial, and god forbid he ever had a accident, what do you think a attorney is going to focus on.

With a clean record for 40 years, how could 1 inspection reveal this much wrong on the truck. Am I to believe that it was a bad day for this driver or he has been real lucky?

Points only go to the driver, and to the company employing him at the time of the inspection.

If the company terminates the driver they keep his points for 2 years from the inspection.

A new company does NOT inherit the drivers points into the company's sms data and score. But insurance companies are going to look at the psp and decide if they want to take the risk of a driver with lots of violations.
