CSA2010 and log book form and manner violations

That's exactly what they want. More inexperienced drivers willing to work for less and far more likely to miss something that DOT can ticket them for. This is about nothing but how they can steal more money for themselves.

 

###### if you do AND ###### if you dont! Once again the driver, who can afford it the least, gets the shaft!
Next time I get a violation, I am going to demand they just bend me over the fuel tank and dry ###### me in the butt instead! It'll will probably hurt less!

I know you are right! I just let my anger over-ride my intellect! That seems to happen alot, esp. when I talk about this dumb a55 CSA 2010!
These lawmakers seem to think that truckers are out to break the law ANY CHANCE WE CAN!
Nothing could be further from the truth! We dont want those hassles either! But we have to pay our bills, our families have to eat!
Punishing the driver is like ignoring the drug dealer and only going after the addict! What this industry needs is a total rehab!

Well I think we should cut Mike some slack. It is not like he wrote the rules he just enforces them. I have caught myself arguing or whatever with him some but he really is doing us a favor by trying to help us understand what all this system will consist of. After all it's the system we are all mad about it has nothing to do with him. Anyway thanks for your input Mike even though it's hard to tell sometimes if we appreciate it or not it is top notch of you to share your knowledge of this system and other things that we ALL NEED to better understand.

 

You know the carrier says the exact same thing. They have no control over the driver and it's the driver's fault.

I disagree with your hypotheses; the driver is the pipeline for the drugs, not the user. The receiver is the addict as they depend on the delivery of the goods to stay alive. The driver has the final say of “YES” or “NO” if the driver digs in their heels and decides to follow the rules then problem solved.

I am looking at drafting a letter to my elected representative. I read in Transport Topics that brokers are managing double figure returns while the trucking companies are doing single digit returns on their operation. Seems to me the brokers are raking the carriers over the coals and keeping more of the transportation fees than needed to make a decent profit. IOW the brokers are price gouging as they are charging the carriers a higher price to obtain the freight.

Perhaps some here need to write their elected representative and express their concerns regarding their ability to make a living and why is it the brokers are making double digit returns for your work when they have nothing invested in the move except for office space, a computer, and modem.
