CT out of West Point, VA or McElroy out of Pleasant Hill, NC? Trying to decide.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to share any first hand knowledge about either company, specifically working out of these two terminals. I hear McElroy has inconsistent freight in the winter, but is that equally true for all flatbed? McElroy pays .46 a mile and CT pays .40, but maybe CT has more miles so it's hard to compare. McElroy's Evangelical Christian culture may be a bit too conservative for me too, and I'm not sure how much that pops up in daily dealings. I'm from the northeast and just tend to let curse words out without even thinking about it. Not sure if I can break that habit! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is that the only two you're considering? You looking for regional or coast-to-coast?

Regional. I need to get home weekends so it's either flatbed or a dedicated account like Dollar General. I have prehire letters from CT, McElroy, and Werner.

Newport News, Virginia, about 45 minutes-1 hour from West Point and 2 hours from Pleasant Hill.

    I think CT has APU's so that's a positive.
Here's some more with weekends at home:

    Decker Truck Line
    Builders Transportation Co.
    Maverick Transportation

Here's some to ask about; they all have weekends or good home time if slots are available for those accounts:

    Knight Transportation-dry van
    Wilson Trucking - shuttle driver
    Southeastern Freight Lines
    Airgas
    Drive United
    Reddy Ice
    YRC Freight
    ABF Freight

You could also look at Averitt. There are service centers in both Portsmouth and Richmond you could run out of, if you wanted too.

Give Uriel Trucking a Call out of Richmond, they hire rookies, home on weekends I believe.

Go with the one out of North Carolina. Just because they're out of North Carolina.

I doubt it comes us much, though I do remember when I was in school (Shippers Choice in Chester) and they came to talk to us they made it a point to mention their Christian, never said what religion just that they were a Cristian family and that why they did the weekends off for family time so in that sense it works. I do remember their little flyer was one of their trucks in front of a church (little much). I talked to the CT Ashland terminal last year, seemed like a good deal but they only had a night shift open at the time which I wasn't interested in. But I'm local.

Me too, from Boston, if my swearing hurts people feelings.....sucks to be them!
