This is what I did. I called the TM shortly before I finished school, and then kept in constant contact once I had my CDL. I don't believe I would have got hired on if I would have only filled out an application and made no phone calls.

Tidewater was one of my top picks, but the recruiter said I would have to move within 35 miles of the terminal. Apparently, their drivers get a lot of home time. I see their trucks a lot now and always liked that blue color.

Hmm...I wonder why the recruiter said the 35 mile thing? I realize we don't take our trucks home at TWT, but 35 miles doesn't seem like that long of a distance for someone to drive in. Might want to talk directly to the terminal manager in your area.

I don't know if that applies to all drivers, but I was in my last week of school when I spoke to the recruiter. That may just apply to trainees, or just those near certain terminals. I'm not sure. I went with my other top pick because they weren't concerned about distance from my home to the terminal.
