If you provide more information people can give you a better answer.
Engine type, year, conditions when fault happened, etc, etc
pdf is for fault 1696 for a Cummins CM871 ISX, should give you some help, but may not be accurate for your engine
Good luckAttached Files:

its 2016 Kenworth T680 cummins ISX

You have a wiring issue somewhere outside the cab. Bugger to find most likely. When the exposed copper gets wet it creates continuity to ground or between rubbed wires and sets the fault. I would begin by looking over the OEM side engine harness really well from the cab to the engine ECM for rubs near brackets or metal objects. Your throttle pedal wiring will be 3 wires twisted together (blue, purple and green)and there are 2 sets of three in the harness. Happy hunting. Sometimes you may have no choice but to wait until it gets worse.

He gave you a description of where the wires run and where to look for it rubbing out. He also gave you all the troibleshooting info for the code. If that isnt enough info to go off of, its time to drop it off at a qualified mechanic.
b singh Thanks this.
