I have an 05 ih 8600 with a cummins ism. Truck was running great, washed the truck and it ran like crap the second I pulled out of the wash bay. It blows a ton of smoke and has no power. I do have an egr code on, but it was on before. I dont hear the turbo spool like it used to, I removed piping and inspected turbo, everything is good. On insite i noticed the accelerator percent is consistent with pedal position, however the fuel percent seems to jump from like 2-10% straight to 100%. Also turbo control valve command is always at 70 even when revving it up. Not sure where to start with this. Ill attach a link to a video of it surging and blowing smoke, it is from an idle mashing the pedal to the floor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Without knowing much about these engines I am leaning towards manifold pressure sensor. Not sure what else could make it billow smoke like this.

I'd check all your sensor plugs and harness connections for water since it started right after you washed it.

Yeah. Water is fine but sounds like he shot is sensor connectors a little too hard. Gonna just have to let let the heat of the motor dry everything out. Sounds like he may have shorted a sensor at this point. The connectors should be water proof none the less. Might want to unplug them and use dielectric grease after you find what sensor you shorted

Yah this isnt my regular truck was just borrowing it, harnesses and connectors dont look all that great so water did prob seep in somewhere. Does anyone know what the voltage on each sensor is supposed to be or where I can find that info? I can see all the current values on insite but im not sure what they are supposed to be.

I have had stuff act haywire after power washing motor. Once everything dries up from heat in engine bay, everything is fine. Has it had a chance to dry yet?

Never let truck wash "people" loose with a high pressure sprayer under the hood. ECM modules have been ruined. Yes waterproof, but older connections have been through a lot of heat, and not as tight as when new.
