turbo checked , its ok........
interesting but this happened after changing the main bearings and oil pump.
Prior to changing the main bearings , oil consumption was 1.5-2 gallons between changes.....
You mention valve seals? How much of the oil will be missing if there is a leak from the valves and where this oil will be going if I do not see it on the ground?
Cummins ISX 475 with 980000 miles is using a lot of oil......

I know couple of people with cummins engine with 1.2 million on it still no oil consumption........2006 trucks with only egr's , I know that newer trucks engine do not last so long ...........
-
If it ain't leaking out, its burning it. You're looking at having to spend some $$$ either way.

Sure there is the odd unicorn out there but generally all the new garbage around here guys are rebuilding them very early.
Not good engines if you ask me. Some stuff is getting done under Warrenty and others are just off warranty. Not good.
This guy could just have broken rings or carbon packing on the rings . Real common on thise red engines. -
it makes sense , when we changed the main bearings we also changed the EGR , so is it possible that the new EGR created this mess?
Oil pump was also changed but I do not know if this has anything to do with oil consumption..... -
Egr has nothing to do with oil consumption.
1.6 million km almost and you put new pump and rolled bearings in. ?
Did you change brands of oil when you did this. Sometimes engines with lots miles dont like this and they will burn oil after. -
Everything you want to know about the ISX and how to rebuild the engine. This guy has add kinda of info about the ISX
-
Yes , the service used different oil after changing the bearings , but when I did the next oil change I went back to Delo which I always used .
-
This is what i think happened.
The oil they used could of or should i say probably had a higher detergent package then your delo. Now 40,000 km later loosened up the carbon around your rings and pistons causing it to start burning oil..
Not much you can do now , even switching back to your delo is a moot point as its not going to fix it self.
You either live with the oil consumption or rebuild it.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
the oil was Mobile
