I'm curious: Do the 2013epa ISX 15 cm2250 engines have these same problems? I know they are supposed to have a much lower rate od EGR.

the problems with isx cm2250 are much worse. they have issues with carbon packing above the top ring, and being so abrasive it polishes the crosshatch out of the liner. basically dusting the engine at 300,000 miles. Cummins has come up with a smaller piston to help keep the carbon away from the liner. Another issue is the hi pressure fuel pump destroying its self and the debris taking out the crank. Good thing either repair is only $24,000

That's not too encouraging. Isn't the high pressure pump the same thing they've had since 2010? Was hoping they had a fix for the ceramic failing by now...

Yes the 2013 cm2350 pump has diamond something something coating, and 2010 cm2250 pumps I believe are getting the same.

The high pressure pump issue has been resolved. The three piston, 2 plunger pumps were the models that failed. They replaced those in the later designs w/ two piston two plunger systems. The pumps that were failing severely were repaired w/ a recall. I have only replaced a handful of pumps outside of that recall. Usually update the pump to the new model, replace oil pump, oil cooler and inspect cams and a few bearings. Never had to short/long block one yet... for that at least -
I've had to change a couple of cranks due to the pump failing. I think that if you have to go that far for a repair cummins should at least swing a short block.

I've changed or cleaned all the sensors except the dozer injector and got almost no results. Last week truck was in shop for radiator and asked them to do a forced regen. Mechanic said dozer injector was throwing a code but he'd try it. He said it did regen for about an hour so the injector must be ok. On Monday I'm going to buy a dozer injector and replace it then get another forced regen and ask for the before and after HPA number. Let's hope that does the trick!
