No there isn't an Exhaust Temp Sensor. If you look it should say "Calculated" meaning it's figuring out what it believes the exhaust temp is based on other sensors, timing, fuel metering, etc, etc.

What exactly do you mean "actuator was calibrated Pre and post install"?

Pre calibrate the actuator.. install the actuator and calibrate it again like a series 60 engine.

Hmmm makes me wonder why the temperature is reading erratic and fluctuates from 300-1000F and holds around 300-500 F

Cummins and Paccar are the only 2 I know but just to be sure I'll walk through the VGT install or at least the way I do it.
#1. Have VGT removed from turbo and disconnected from harness.
#2. Key on unit, connect to Insite, pull up fault codes to verify ECM sees VGT is disconnected.
#3. Connect VGT to harness. Pinion on VGT should quickly snap in to position, or not move at all. If it keeps spinning erratically or jumping back and forth, unplug, wait 30 seconds and plug back in. Use Insite to perform "Install Procedure" in ECM Diagnostic Test.
#4. Push the sector gear (thing that looks like a foot with a ton of toes on the turbo) from the side closest to the exhaust and push forward towards the front of the engine (that is the install position).
#5. Mount VGT to turbo, do not rotate VGT while installing it should drop straight down possibly needing to tilt it forward, side to side. Torque down 4 mounting bolts.
#5. Back to Insite you should still have the green bar up saying "VGT install successfully completed" now change the drop down box to "Calibrate VGT" and click OK. It should pass with the green bar again. And that's it.

    4vmach1 Thanks this.

Yeah I've asked a few wngineers before and they pretty much brush me off and say don't worry about it. I haven't had the need to use it in any sort of troubleshooting so far.

I may have found the issue. Latest calibrations fixes regen temperatures. Only issue is my insite isn't letting me upload the latest calibration to the calworkspace. :( I might need to purchase a CD.

What version of Insite are you running. They changed something about 6 months ago that has to do with the way files are encrypted. Make sure your Insite is at the latest revision.

AV10065.42 and I think AV10065.46 is the latest and a previous version fixes the temp issue. My insite is 7.5 and I can't upgrade it as this one has been cracked to work forever.
