Was that first picture taken from the outside or the inside? (The one of just the hole, not the one looking down inside the pan).
-
Both were pictures of the inside.
-
If it is then he has been riding around like this for over a year and a half like this. The pan started leaking that far back and they JB Welded it. It held for that long and then started leaking. So then they replaced the pan.
-
Looks like something definitely hit it from the inside. Being that close to the edge of the pan I don't think it'd be a rod bolt. I'm stumped on this one.
-
Dipstick too long? Hitting bottom of pan?
That's my best guess if it ain't a rod bolt.Heavyd, Straight Stacks and Smellfunny Thank this. -
if ya dont find any thing hitting it take a hammer and dent the next pan in that spot
-
That might be possible. I will have to take a look into that.
-
That is what I was thinking of doing. I like the dipstick idea though. If it is the dipstick I will just grind a little off the end.
-
Before you grind anything off, try measuring the pan form the flange to the bottom and then measure the dip stick from the sealing surface on the block to the bottom of the stick.
I doubt that the dip stick would cause a puncture, or even that type of scrape but maybe something is rattling around.
