look at cummins oil pressure. cat and detroit make 40+ even at 1000 rpm. cummins don't.

i pull my 11 liter 60 series down to 1200 all the time, and it pulls down there too.

we pulled our 6nz and acerts down low too-i think cat said something like 1050rpm was ok as i recall? we had a company rep come in and talk to our drivers about driving the C15's. we had a few apart,no lower end issues ever found.

That is a cummins design, this changed in the early 80s, my 855 never runs under 40psi, it carries the same PSI cold that my 3406B does.

Yup cummins are designed as a low oil pressure engine.

As I recall my N14 made about 35lbs max,but I quit driving that in '04 so that's subject to fuzzy memory.

Yes 35 max. The idea was 35psi at any rpm.

another way is to do it the same way people upgrade cat motors, ecm tune, injectors, and twin turbo's. only problem with an n14 is that there isn't any other larger versions like how c18 parts fit a c15 and they can come factory at 1000hp. Pittsburgh power can do the ecm tuning, dynomite diesel can do the extrude honing for the injector nozzles, and the local exhaust shop can do the tubing work for setting up the twin turbo's. only reason I say 750 is because ive heard the n14 blocks can start cracking around 800. I haven't tested it but at the same time I wouldn't wanna push the limits

I changed an injector in my N14 and fired it up real quick to make sure I got it right before I put it all back together. Never even thought about putting a bolt in the oil passage to the jake. Made a heck of a mess in a heck of a hurry. I used to wonder if they really got enough oil at the lower pressures that Cummins runs. I don't wonder anymore.

Blocks cracking? That is a new one, had you said main bearing fretting then that would be true, this is more common with people that lug these engines, drive them like a big cam and there will be no worries about fretting.

I dont have head gasket, crank, or block issues with my BC1 and the N14 block is stronger, and I can assure you my big cam is north of 750 and sees more pressure than any working N14 would ever see.

I have a Pittsburgh Power Built N14. It makes 735hp and 2250 torque. That’s plenty for me.
