For future reference with the oil cooler is that something I should replace at like 250k or something? I never want this problem ever again.

Also I read my quote from cummins wrong.
Haven't had much sleep the past few days lol.
    Short block - 19k
    Long block - 29k
    Recon engine -39k
Also the long block comes with way more parts than I thought. So will probably go that route. Basically would just reuse my turbo which isn't that old, Jake's, damper, alternator, etc. but it has water and oil pumps.

Oil coolers don’t normally need to be replaced or serviced until they fail or some catastrophic engine grenade happens like thrash in the oil or coolant that gets into the cooler. Tons of engines get inframed for normal wear or bearings just get rolled in for normal wear and oil coolers are never touched. I know some old Cummins NH coolers that have been around for many many years and engine overhauls.

    Kruse Family Farms Thanks this.

If I had to guess it is probably original to the truck. Looked fine externally so I didn't give it much thought. I am definitely disappointed with whoever previously in framed the truck lol. 400k of normal use just ain't good at all. I'm strict about preventive maintenance as well. In the future about around 300k I might do those oil analysis each time. They are really helpful. I did a few when I first got the truck 3-4 years ago. Also did one on my old truck and caught a head gasket before catastrophic failure. It is always easy to not do the extra work.

Probably the final update on this one for anyone who cares. Going to order a reman long block from Cummins tomorrow. Going to ship it to the shop and they are going to start work on it next week. It would cost me 3k between ordering a gantry crane and towing to get it back to my house. Around 5k labor at the shop. So I am going to let them do it. Honestly they won't have to do anything crazy so I'm not to worried about anything going wrong. Basically just installing Jake's and accessories. Probably will be in it between 35-40k. Which I paid cash for the truck around 4-5 years ago at this point. So I guess it could be worse. I love the truck and have done a lot of other work to it so I don't want to get rid of it. I have also always loved the N14....other than injectors. Probably going to snag a new air compressor, oil pan and potentially a damper if needed. That's pretty much it. Thanks guys. Hope your week goes better than mine lol.
