I'd assume it's been about 300,000 miles since anything was done with valves and injectors. This truck had a complete out of frame done 300,000 ago. Previous owner used new pump, heads, injectors, cam etc.

Yes. Have replaced it with one of the same part # since that photo was taken. -
60 to 70k on first valve set. Then every 100k.
zx150 Thanks this. -
I just swapped in a fresh 25 micron filter and there is no visible improvement on the gauge over the 10 micron filter. Also swapped the spin on as well.

zx150 Thanks this.

You may be onto something. Every time I have ever changed the spin on filter it is almost empty. On every other truck I've ever changed a filter on it's overflowing out the top when it starts to come off. It has done this since day one.
I tried running a BIG filter but I need to modify the bracket to make it work so the filter sits out farther from the motor. -
You may be able to get by with the mid sized filter. I would get away from the Baldwin filters, I have yet to find anything that competes with a Donaldson for flow rate.
The medium sized filter I would try is a P551001.zx150 Thanks this. -
If its dry. Look for crackes in housing. I would modify bracket for a 1259. Or fs 1000. It has a stand pipe in filter to help keep it full.
zx150 Thanks this. -
I'll take a look into those filters. Had the spin on filter off this morning and I couldn't see any cracks at the housing but that doesn't mean they aren't there.
Could I swap a CAT style filter head with a primer handle onto this engine? The fittings are smaller on my 3406B compared to the N14 at the filter.
Speaking of priming...the truck quit on me this morning right after I started it for the day. Ran for maybe 20 seconds, died and never restarted. Pretty sure it has lost prime. Thought it was gelled up but 100% liquid in the tanks and filters. Had the salamander on the engine pretty much all day. Code 434 after cranking(ECM voltage). Thinking I ran the batteries down after multiple attempts at firing it up.Last edited: Dec 21, 2016

No, flow is not there, that filter base is always after the transfer pump on cat engines.
zx150 Thanks this.
