Ok we have a 2000 KW W900 with the N14 Celect Plus engine, and its been giving us fits for a few months now. Hopefully some one here can point us in the right direction. I red the code and I think it was 433 but I could be wrong, I know that its derating the motor to idle only. and the Code description was Intake sensor sends high boost pressure signal when other sensors are sending a low boost pressure signal So Boost pressure MUST be low.(scanned with the cummins INSITE program) We have replaced both sensors in the intake system with new parts and still the code/problem remains. Is there a way to test if one of the intake sensors is bad? (like ohm it out or something?) My boss says that theirs a broken wire in the harness but if every plug tests at 12.5 + volts that cant be the issue right? Also some one said that an EGR issue can cause this but i want to know does the N14 have an EGR system?
Thank you For Any Help

Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

The plugs may test at 12.5 volts, but what's important is how much of that voltage gets back to the computer. That's what it is looking for and the sensor is responsible for. I'd try to see if I could get an ECM that's set up as close as possible to the current unit.
-
If the plugs test at 12 volts theres a problem, ECM is supplied with 12volt but breaks it dowm to 5 volt, on a 3 wire sensor you typically will have you 5 volt reference, a grd, and a signal wire the signal wire measures in .1 volt increments to tell ecm the values at the sensor. I only use a DVOM when checking ecm voltage. Yes you can ohm sensors to see if they are bad, since you replaced them already I'm with the boss bad wire in harness. Cummins celect and celect plus are pretty notorious for wire insulation to look good but wire inside be broken a pin test will tell you

Here is the trouble shooting steps for flash code 433
Circuit Description
The intake manifold pressure sensor monitors intake manifold pressure and passes information to the electronic control module (ECM) through the sensor harness. If intake manifold pressure becomes too high, it will cause a derate condition.
Component Location
The intake manifold pressure sensor is located on the air intake manifold. Refer to Procedure 100-002 (Engine Diagrams) in Section E for component location.
Shop Talk
- The ECM checks for this fault only at idle speed. If the intake manifold pressure shows too high of a value at this time, the ECM will log a fault code.
- Using the intake manifold pressure sensor breakout cable, Part Number 3824775, between the intake manifold pressure sensor and the engine harness sensor connector, with keyswitch ON. Check with intake manifold pressure sensor connected and disconnected.
- Run an Automated Cylinder Performance test and/or Single Cylinder Cutout test to detect an injector problem causing the fault. Look for alternate fuel sources, such as oil-filled charge air coolers or blown seals in the turbo causing this fault.

Where did you get that manual? I've been looking for one.
-
It from QuickServe online https://quickserve.cummins.com It's great for owner ops becasue it free for up to 5 ESN's. Repair shop need to pay a subscription for full access. Sign up and enter you engine serial # and you have access to all repair & parts info for up to 5 engines.
It's also in the Insite help file if you have access to that.Heavyd Thanks this. -
Yea thats the thing We went through that whole process because we have the Insite program. But it never had me test continuity from the sensor to the harness on the3 ECU. So i will try that next, since these n14's have a problem with them sperating. But now What pins are what? the Insite program isn't very clear on that...
Thanks For All The Help

Ok so I ran a continuity test on all three of the wires and they all tested good. Then i ran a resistance test, and found some odd readings. If you hold the three prong plug with the latch at the top so that you have the two pins on the top and it looks like *.* I got .2 ohm on the top left pin 14.5 kOhm on the top right pin, and .2ohm on the bottom pin. What does this mean?
-
If you are testing ohms of each wire, from the sensor plug to the ECU with both disconnected, then 14.5k ohms mean high resistance and you have a problem in that wire to the ECU. Trace that wire and find the problem.
