I just bought a 2000 FLD with a 370hp N14, 10 speed and 3.73 rears.. I called and made an appointment with Cummins for a uprate and dyno. I am wondering if they will put some crap low nox program in it like Cat or Detroit would. Has anyone had this 425hp and 1550lbft program?

You have to take it to a dealer, we use to do the preliminary checks with just the CPL and the truck serial number, no charge, and see if the motor's hard parts are able to withstand an uprate, then the truck will have to be inspected to see if the transmission will handle the uprate, the clutch, driveshafts, cooling system, everything has to be able to withstand the increase.
I have seen many units repowered with different engines with the driver saying he was an owner operator and he knew how to take care of it and would never hurt anything, he spent a fortune getting everything replaced, one component at a time, and repairing the damage, as well as the tow bills.
The dealership I worked at would not uprate any unit that did not have every single component up to snuff. the reason is the owner will sign off that he knows some parts are not up to standard then when they blow up he sue's
    Just a thought!

Yep, good advice. 370 to 425 is a bigger jump than you might think. I would be shocked if no parts have to be changed. We have had o/o uprate their trucks, but not the driveline to match. They didn't have any major issues. They knew they had to be careful.

It's not the hp you need to worry about!

I was looking for the uprate for pulling the hills better. It is a 1800 motor and needs to be 2100. I played that with a detroit and wont do it again. I dont believe that the 100lbft of torque will kill anything. I was more concerned about a low nox program killing my mileage.

100 Ft Lbs of torque will make a big difference, it is not so much while driving along it is when you are pulling a hill and hit a little gravel or sand on the road and one wheel slips then grabs, that is when things go bang. If you are going to back out of the throttle all the time and not stress the drive line you might as well leave it alone.
Those engineers that make all the components to the truck and test them, what do they know, you are a truck driver and what?
I always suggest you leave it alone and save your money to buy a newer truck with what you want, the 370 will live a long time and is good on fuel, it will make you money. Look at the EPA tags on all the big engines, the MM3 of fuel burnt to make that HP, then look at yours.
People forget the reason you drive is to make money not to get to the truck stop quicker than you buddy!
    Just a thought

I had an n14 that was set at 500hp/1650tq and had it uprated ton525hp/1850tq.. my driveline was only 1650, had truck since 2006 at this rating and got rid of truck this spring at 1.6 million miles and never tore nothing up, I drove it hard hauling tanks.... that small increase in power your looking at wont hurt it

Don't forget it is 13 years old.
If it runs good on MPG in it's present setup.............i would leave it alone.
