i really love the X15 565 hp in my newly assigned truck, it now has 3,800 miles on it. it had 990 miles on it a couple of weeks ago when i got in it. way more power, it likes to pull in the upper RPM band, and i keep the revs up going up a steep hill with a load. the MX13 has almost nothing over 1,650 RPM they fall on their face. yesterday i actually passed a 53' van going up dansville hill on I390. it's a long, fairly steep hill that really burns off energy fast. i did 43 mph up this hill, and truck 84 would pull the same hill at 33 mph. i was loaded 68K of milk and gross of 102,700 lbs (yes on an overweight permit). she pulls hard and isnt afriad of hills.
i do have a question. today it regenerated several times. with a paccar engine it's seemless and you dont even know it's doing it. the cummins it was obvious it was regenerating. the dashboard prompted to allow the truck to finished before shutting down. it did this at 3 farms. the last farm after the truck was done, i did a manual burn. after i did this it seemed to have corrected the constant regenerating. before the manual burn the truck was attempting to regen while i was driving it (no alarms you could just tell it was by the way the truck sounded).
is it normal for a cummins to regen more oftern? i would say that my routes are all hills, not like OTR interstate. these are rural roads. i do make some deliveries that are done with interstate roads, but the entire duration of picking up milk are fairly short distances and allot of grades.
cummins X15 vs paccar MX13

Well, both the Paccar and the x15 use the same Holset after treatment system (a few small differences), which suggests the problem may lie with the parts in front of it.....

Do you sit and idle when at the customers?
Always high idle the x15 if you do. -
I don't idle excessively. I shut it down at plants and farms, unless the weather is inclement In which case I will idle at the plant
