1.75 round trip. And empty home.? Wtf bull haulers been running for 4 mile one way for years. 1300 miles is perfect 4 day round trip get a night or two at the house. I may be missing something but drop and hook 1.75 after his cut, running the best chance for great weather and cheap fuel....sounds alright in my book.
blacklabel Thanks this. -
2 day trip. 2/3 trips a week. Some say its OK others think I can get loaded both ways.

Its a bull wagon deal also

Well, I don't haul livestock: but is that all the money that's in it? Idk that area, so if that's a good rate for you go for it. F I was doing that run I wouldn't be typing this response I'd be typing my letter of resignation. If you do 3 runs a week @ 1300 miles each, end of week you've run 3900ish miles, avg'ing $1.75 a mile.... Maybe van guys feel that's great, or container haulers....I don't see working that hard for so little money being a long term plan. Gonna put a lot of miles on your equipment and make meager earnings. Not that it isn't profitable; it's just not profitable enough to justify doing for very long, IMO
Cat sdp and blacklabel Thank this. -
Been talking to more people in the livestock realm and decided that I can do better.
Ruthless Thanks this. -
2.5 runs a week would be about 5680 in revenue after 15% cut. so 1300 miles x 2.5 on 3250 miles. 3250 miles at 5.5 mpg (although empty return i would hope you'd do better) you would use somewhere around 600 gallons. 600 gallons @ (pretty sure fuel in MO and TX are not to hard to find under $3) but lets use national average of 3.40. so you dropped $2000 on fuel. $3600 a week after dudes cut and fuel, home TWO days every week. and fast speed limits on TX. pretty easy on equipment when your empty half the miles. your having trouble deciding on $14,500 a month ater dispatch fees and fuel?? WTF am i missing here?

The 3250 miles a week....duh!!!!

hes not running in Jersey or Montana here were talking flat land with 80 mph speed limits. 650 x 5 days all he has so do. who cant do that? you guys in the Northeast cant fathom that! we run oversize and can do that, loaded both ways...blacklabel Thanks this.
