Also, is this affecting just the US, or globally? I'm not sure; anyone know?

You are mixing up old poor for destitute.

Old poor is living in a 70s single wide and shopping at Dollar General using assistance. Keeping the AC or heat down to an absolute minimum. Driving a four door that’s almost as old as the trailer, with black smoke streaming out the pipe, running on 7 cylinders. There’s no ketchup packets in that picture. Just cans of Natural Light.

Speak for yourself, my friend. I believe you are living in La La Land.

I think an Australian or Canadian (don’t remember which) on here said that there rates were going up.

I may be showing my age but I remember that the truck stop signs didn't have a spot for the 1 when fuel hit a buck a gal. then when it hit 1.50 a gal. Co. were folding up and you could find 5 year old trucks with way under half a million miles for 13 to 17 thousand bucks?

I sold my truck in 1993 when fuel went over $1.49/ gal. At that point, I deemed it unprofitable to run my own truck, and got a company job, and never looked back,,

Were companies applying a fuel surcharge when fuel was a $1.50? I remember when the pumps showed $.89 gallon for diesel. I was not an owner operator at the time and much younger (much) and your not thinking of fuel prices.
