why doesnt swift give you the fuel discount other carriers get? that 25 to 30 cents a gallon adds up. on top ramming you guys with exorbitant payment and a low cents per mile,, they clip you for the fuel discounts

and the proper term is fuel surcharge.

Don't know, don't care ... fuel discounts are a chimera anyway.

Companies give you the biggest discounts from the suppliers that charge the highest prices ... work the independents and you can beat the prices at the majors even with the discounts.

So you buy overpriced fuel at major, happy and content that your company has given you a discount; which is only part of the discount, the company pocketing the rest ... meanwhile happy and content, you never make the effort to find out you may have saved yourself another dime at the independent the next exit up.

At least Swift is up front that they are keeping the discount.

Swift L/O actual fuel cost is probably around $1.12 a gallon. What are you guys from other companies paying?

Mine is hovering around $1.08 and that up from my low of $1.03. Helps when your truck will get 8 MPG with 40,000 in the box (level ground, skirted trailer).
