Hi everyone!
I am Carol, the roommate who got picked for the lottery. Just to update real quick: Last night, our entire class made it to the hotel in Cedar Rapids. We start orientation tomorrow, Thursday, and should be finished by Saturday at the latest. Today is a day to get settled in and relax a bit. The guys are happy because we are in a hotel that has a gym. Not my style...LOL
The instructors at Hawkeye were fantastic and very helpful. They were proud of all of us and said this was the first class in a long time to do as well as we did. I am looking forward to coming back in a year for a visit to get my picture put on the wall.
I can't wait to get out on the road and hopefully get back down South. It is too cold up here for this Southern girl!
Y'all stay safe out there and roll on! -
Congrats to the entire group! I must say that yall were a very interesting bunch but in the end knew how to take care of business when it counted.

[Day 17, 18, 19]
As carol stated above, we arrived at the Red Roof Inn day before yesterday and were both moved into separate rooms. We had been roommates for the last couple of wks. and asked management if they could switch things around and that is what they did. The Red Roof Inn is actually a nice hotel with an awesome staff that tries to accommodate when they are able to. The rooms are clean and due to the large amount of persons that they get from the CRST terminal here, they are able to keep chaos and issues to a minimum. They provide coffee, orange juice, toast, and I think bagels for breakfast. The fresh coffee is actually available 24/7...
Since we had arrive Wen. and orientation did not start until Thur. we decided to tour the facility and tie up any loose ends before starting the last part of our journey from this side. We went to the CRST terminal, the short bus usually starts picking people up at the hotel around 5:30am. Upon arriving, I noticed that they were set up professionally, with travelers in mind. I immediately hopped on a shuttle to the DMV with a gentleman named Merl. Initially, I thought him to be a bit coarse but upon talking with him, found him to be intelligent, informative and very courteous. Be kind to him, he has tough job in hauling some very thoughtless people from point A to point B. I ended up having to go back to the hotel and get some paperwork and then returned to the DMV to change my permit out to my reg. paper copy of my class A. I was able to run nxt. door and meet with the amazing recruiter who had worked so diligently in getting me to this point with CRST. I was not disappointed, she was the same in person as on the phone, professional and focused.
We finally made it back to the hotel and caught a ride with a shuttle driver to Walmart in order to set up for the nxt. few days.
The nxt. morning we headed out at 5:30am, had lots of coffee at the terminal and walked into our first intro to orientation. Brad was the instructor and he did not hesitate to throw us head first into everything that we had to do in the nxt. couple of days. He is very thorough and definitely a class A instructor in every sense of the word. A couple of hrs. into the class, I was contacted by my recruiter's supervisor and told that they were in need of some paperwork that had previously not been required. Here comes that hiccup!
I had my step father look for a couple of hrs. at my home in order to fax a copy, he could not locate it, of course he is 87 and I felt bad in asking him to do such. My mother, who is an occupational therapist agreed to shift her patients in order to try and get off early and look for it. Again no such luck. So, after all of the work and effort put in to this, and all clarifications assured, I am being sent home to find it and fax it before I can go any further. As all of this is going on, I was trying to deal with the stress level and get through the 1st. day of orientation, including the tests. Currently I am only lacking my physical assessment and company road test. My bus leaves at 2:05pm this afternoon, and I'm a little disappointed to say the least. I did not forget anything when I initially left home but during the time of leaving and arriving here was told by the supervisor that policy had changed. She was kind about the whole matter and tried to work with me for a few hrs. in the hopes that it could be located by a family member but it has not worked out that way. At this point, I will catch the bus and do what I need to do. I will not be able to update until I reach Kentucky but will do so when able.

Ouch, can you tell us what the paperwork pertains to, so I can make sure I have it when I come?

so we had to take a rental car up to Seattle to retrieve another truck and trailer that was abandoned up there 2010 freightliner not as nice as the volvo but it worked ..we had to get this one Pmed so they got us a load to fontana California that's where the other training facility is and we spent two days in this dusty hell hole but we got the trick Pmed (preventative maintenance) New tires , oil change ,regeneration thing like that .so it was all good after that then we got a load home from cali to florida over 2000 miles not bad ..but yea this is only the beginning crst is going to treat you like royalty
