What he said ^^^^^^ some have helical cut gears some are straight cut. You can swap drive gear on crank if you know what your doing with a fire wrench and puller.

It is popular to build engines with the acert blocks, what all does a guy need from a non acert engine to build one. I know the pistons have to be swapped for lower compression, and those I have talked to have used an older head, exhaust manifold and single turbo. Does the front covers have to be swapped or are they the same? My neighbor has one that they changed the pistons, but left the twin turbos, and the head, he has had lots of trouble with it and I am wondering if it is because of the head. He is now waiting on an aftermarket head.

Interesting, I am assuming they have different strokes.

C model to acert bridge engine are same crank for 15 liter engines. Also C15 oil pan gasket will work on older engines to b model I believe.

Gotcha I just assumed it would be different because he mentioned hot b models,
I may want to pick your brain some. I have a line on an acert core, that needs building. If I get it I will want to build it back to an E or C model, and need to find out what all I will need to build it.

    cswolley Thanks this.

I watched several of KT3406e videos. One of them he showed the different models of Cat crankshafts. One of them was a very different color and it came out of a BXS series. The gold color is from a special allot that was used in that particular engine and was said to be one of the best cranks make for the ACERT series.

I will stir the pot as I have heard but not confirmed that the maxfart, 13 and 15 engines are the cheapest CAT blocks you can find.
