OK I have searched all the threads on here about Cypress, and most of the info is all over a Year old.
Are there any current or former drivers who don't hate them that can give me the low down on them.(good or bad just unbiased)
I got a pre-hire letter from them and I am considering them. With the way the economy is and as light as my wallet is I wanna be sure there decent. What sort of miles are there drivers getting and if insurance is decent. Also are the truck's half way decent?
What can you expect going thru there orientation and flatbed training program. I'm going in as an experienced driver, just been awhile since I threw a tarp around. Thanks Hicksie

They keep their trucks a long time. Some of them are in good condition some are could be seen in better shape. They have Intl 9400I's, Freightliner FLD's, and Petes and KW's. None of their trucks have airslide fifth wheels, only fixed fifth wheels. Maybe someone who works could say more about them.

Thanks for the info king.

dude, if ya wanna drive flatbeds, why dont you try a better company. like boyd brothers or maverick. cypress is kinda like swift, they dont care about you and their equipment sucks. at least with swift you get a decent truck. seriously, they are the very bottom of the barrel. go and get your applications in the best companies you can find and work your way to the bottom, not the bottom then work your way up. just my opinion.

BEST OF LUCK to you as well.
FYI- I grew up w/some kids that had Hicks for a last name.Their dad owned a furniture store and on the front of his truck it read "here comes Hicks with the sticks" and the rear of it read "here goes Hicks with the sticks". That is why I referred to you as the Hick.all in a good humored way- -
yes allnite, i did come off sounding like a know it all. sorry hick, i guess a job offer these days is nothing to sneeze at. all my blathering on about cypress is from some experience ive had when a good friend of mine had a very bad time with them year or two ago. everytime i see that name it just infuriates me. buddy had a kid who was very sick and they couldnt get him home in time b4 the little one went into a coma. to make a long story short, an unhappy ending. my buddy hasnt been the same since. again ,i didnt mean to come off that way. good luck in you're decision.... homer.

Cypress used to be PLOOF Trucking that went bankrupt.
Always had junked out rides that matched their frieght and still do.
They will run your asstray off and . . . . .
They have a local terminal in Tye Tx across I20 from the Westigo Trk stop Exit 279.
There really isnt anything good to say about them,I would pull an end dump for $8.00 hr before I would work for them, which would prolly pay better anyway.
BUT ! today,a Job is a Job! -
my first job, ploof, stands for "plum lost out of florida". i was based out of tampa. pulled a ton of sheetrock out of port tampa. i didnt know ploof got picked up by cypress, i just thought they closed their doors. dang i drove some old coe into some crazy ### places for ploof. drivin onto sod farms where they load you while you are rolling right next to the sod cutter. crazy job. hot and DIRTY throwin a half tarp on that crap.

Sheet rock is about all you get out of the Abilene /Sweetwater area, then you get over around La,Ar you get plywood and lumber.
Building materials are all low ball freight loads. -
Thanks for the replies guys. I have thought alot about where to go. I have read all about Cypress and from what I am seeing and hearing in talking with them, I have about decided to wait on the other job. They are waiting on there freight to pick up a little before they hire any one.
I started out in the bottom feeder pool and worked my way up. I had to leave OTR for some personal problems at home. Thought it was for a few month's turned into five years. I have still been driving but it has been local. Funny part is most all companies think I have forgotten how to drive. A few have even told me to go back to school. I never went to a school to start out and If 5 years OTR and 5 Years local isn't experience then I must be lower then Forrest Gump!!!
Got off topic sorry. Any way thanks for the feedback.
