Yeah, I don't think I could do team driving for a year. I was going to have to suck it up to share a sleeper berth with someone for 6 weeks...maybe even 10 with Wiley Sanders.

I've considered Stevens Transport. OTR reefer is at the opposite end of the spectrum for what I wanted to do, but they do have regional, dedicated accounts in Florida I could get after 60 to 90 days OTR. The 16 year Stevens driver I talked to seem to be a straight shooter, and one of my TDI instructors was with them for 15 years and had good things to say about them.

As always, we appreciate your help Chinatown.

TransAm doesn't have the best reputation, but training period is only 10 days. Can keep a trainer longer if you want, but 10 days is the policy. Can try it and not mention Cypress. If it does come up, say you didn't realize you were an employee because you were only there a few hours. Sometime, in trucking, have to withhold information to survive.

Florida Beauty Express doesn't hire that far North in Florida.
"Blue Eyed Indian" is Navajo Express. Probably worth a phone call.

That 10 day learning period is a plus if you're a quick learner, but I wonder what starting CPM is for new drivers if experienced drivers only earn $0.32. I want to say that Stevens was 36 or 40 starting off, but I'll have to go back and look at my notes.

And sometimes you got to lie like a rug!

Which I don't understand because one weekend I saw three different Florida Beauty trucks in Pensacola. I don't know why I could be a driver if they have such a presence here.

Probably on their way to California. Runs California every week. Probably teams you saw. Call and ask.
Maybe had a stop in Pensacola. They do multiple stops on the way to California; that's why the paychecks are good; get paid extra for each stop.

Found my notes from the 16 year Stevens driver I talked with:
4 day orientation/5 weeks with trainer
    $550/wk
    $0.36 CPM starting/ $0.38-$0.42 regional dedicated after 90 days
    2800-3000 miles/week
    Tuition Reimbursement $250/month
Detention pay after 2 hrs, $20-25/hr up to $150/day
Park on property most of the time
    Most deliveries are daytime
    Cascadias and Kenworth T680s

    Not that bad, huh?
