It is what it is, that's Florida and you either accept or you don't. My opinion of PA isn't all too rosey, I moved here in August and can not wait for the day to go home to Florida. I live in western PA right off the border of WV and the hills suck, the roads suck, and the winters suck. Have you ever thought that we're paid so well up here because of the god awful conditions we have to drive in? And I know "we didn't have a winter here this year" but it still sucked, miserably cold and gray for months.
All I'm saying is we know the pay in Florida is lower than what a lot of people in the north are used to, but still 800 per week driving in Florida is a good living and you get to enjoy where you're living.stabob Thanks this. -
yea i hear you on that i was raised and born in belle vernon,pa and spent a lot of time living in w.va winters do suck there out here in philly its not too bad i would love to move to florida myself but i cant afford to work for that kind of money seems all they want to pay is around 12 per hr down there and the cost of living isnt really any lower

I was taken back by the taxes here, I'm not even a resident of the state and still have to pay my borough taxes and what not. The state of PA has already gotten a thousand dollars of my hard earned money. I make over a grand weekly like you do, but like I said up here you work for it you really have to be on top of your game driving these roads and the money is definately deserved.
I'm not saying that Florida drivers don't deserve more than what they get, but we don't have any state taxes down there and the cost of living is not nearly as high as you might think. My wife and I paid 645 monthly for rent and our heating and cooling costs were pretty stable year round where as in PA these heating costs can go through the roof in the winter. Florida also does not make you inspect your car yearly and pass emissions, there is a lot of cost living in the state of PA. -
do you not mean,
the commonwealth of pennsylvania ??? -
yea that emissions and inspection thing is a scam they got going on here just another way to make money.reny is way too high here also cant find a descent place for under a grand but at the same time finding a job making a grand a week here is pretty easy so theres plus and minus to everything i guess

Rent in Florida is getting to a grand a month now. Rent in this area over the last year has nearly doubled in some places. Maybe the housing crash has something to do with it because there are fewer rentals anymore.

Well I am moving to Spring Hill, Fl so I left Cypress, they offered to let me drive a dump truck out of the Tampa terminal but they want me to park the truck in Tampa. I dont want to work a 14 hour day and have a 2 hour round trip commute daily!
I'm in a situation where I dont have alot of bills so I can afford to take less pay for more hometime, there are a few options here in the Brooksville area that I am currently checking out.
Overall I HAD a good experience at Cypress, but now its payday and they refuse to pay me! When I quit nothing was said about my fuel card, now they wont pay me till I turn it in! I cant afford to go to Jacksonville until I get my paycheck so...........
They still want me to drive out of the Tampa terminal but I refuse to work for a company that would mess with your paycheck! -
I live in Spring Hill too. Worked foe Cypress in 2008. During my 4th day of training in yard took that one step to far back ,fell and broke my lef elbow. They were very nice till i was released back to work then they had no work for me. Then found out that i was working for some driver service not Cypress. Nobody there would talk to me and explain this.

Hey Polarbare, maybe pass on some advice to Harleyman about what's going on around Spring Hill lately. I know it's still on pretty hard times, I worked for P/C Miller for almost 4 years until they slowed way down and now they're unfortunately out of business. I remember the days when Clyde Daniels, Cal Wilson, Fujimo, and Cliffs couldn't keep enough guys, now most all of those guys are out of business.
