Does anyone have any experience with Cypress Trucking out of Atlanta? They promise weekly home time and miles, but I need to hear it from drivers. Thanks

I think there are several posts about Cypress. The only thing I remember is that people didn't think much of their equiptment. Do a search.
daddyhusky Thanks this. -
Do a search for "Cypress". Read all the threads. What I've seen is old equipment on I-95 in FL hauling alot of sod, recycled metal etc. Heard better things about Melton, McElroy, Sunbelt and Tennant.
daddyhusky Thanks this. -
I seen an ad in Tallahassee for Sunbelt, a few years ago Cypress acquired them from what I knew, now they're back out on their own? If so good for them, I remember them offering a home every other night deal for Florida drivers a few years back, sure wish they'd open that up again. Not much for CPM, .34 but that's a good mix of the road and being home for certain people.
There was a member on here "hotrod" from Tallahassee who went with Cypress, seemed happy and had weekends home, maybe you should PM him and see if he's still around.daddyhusky Thanks this. -
hotrod1018, counter says he was here 3 days ago so you can PM him after you post some more.
I read that Sunbelt was bought by the group that owns Cypress(websites use same template) but they have different recruiting and Sunbelt's equipment looks better. Mostly I see them hauling construction materials(lumber etc). Might try Builders Transport, out of GA.. Disclaimer- I have not worked for any of these companies, I was a firefighter/medic for 10 years until moving to Fl 18 months ago, but I have been researching 6 months for my new driving career(which will start after graduating in 4 weeks) and going to websites and talking to drivers/trainers/recruiters etc.daddyhusky Thanks this. -
Look at the threads rec is a lier and dispatcher is a drunk the trucks are old and dont run half the time
daddyhusky Thanks this. -
I was at the jacksonville florida terminal dont know if thats the same company for sure
daddyhusky Thanks this. -
I'll bet most of those old Freightshakers, Internationals, and Pete's are more reliable than some of this new Regen technology, DEF junk. I took delivery of a brand new 2010 Mack with 80 miles on it and had it in the shop no less than 10 times within a year and a half and 160,000 miles. Piece of junk and hard to make money when you're in the shop constantly.
With all due respect, how can you trash a company when you've never worked for them. Recruiters fib, but that guy Clay seemed pretty upfront when I talked to him about the dump division. Now if you've worked for them and formed a negative opinion like some on here then I can take it as credible, but to label the dispatcher a drunk and the recruiter a liar without knowing or working for these guys atleast 90 days is kind of unfair in my opinion. But this.............is just my opinion.daddyhusky, Spacecoast, snowman01 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had a few of their trucks in my shop. The equipment is old, but maintained. Some were pretty bad inside, but that is the fault of the drivers and not the company in my opinion. Most of the drivers that were in my shop have been with them 2 years or more. Every once in awhile you will get one that is fairly new.
Never heard comments about dispatch being drunk. I know they are quick on paying their bill for outside work and want their equipment to be running properly. Most of the trucks I have seen were Peterbuilts. There was maybe 1 International. Most repairs were minor repairs like lights out or A/C quitting.
Just like any other company, it is what you make of it. If you make it out to be bad then it will be bad for you. Every driver I spoke to has been home every weekend and does an average of 2000-2200 miles each week.
I am an ex driver that might be a non ex one here soon and have been asking a lot of questions to the drivers coming by. For some reason drivers will be straight to a mechanic before they will to a driver. I don't get it, but it is what it is...
I can only tell you what guys say and what I overhear as they are talking to others in our lobby.daddyhusky Thanks this. -
i was with for awhile i liked it there made decent money home every weekend unless i chose to stay out yes most of the trucks are old but maintained pretty good. that is the if you actually write it up and tell someone. only reason i left was personal reasons needed local work for now. if i go back out on road i will go back to cypress they were a pretty straight forward company never leid to by anyone atleast that i know of. and cypress does own sunbelt but it is currently ran by its own managment for the time being anyway. any other questions i will answer to the best of my ability like any most companies its what you make of it.
when iwas there i drove a 99 pete that ran and was way more reliable than 2009 thru 2012 macks and freightliners we have at my current jobSpacecoast, 123456, Shaggy76 and 3 others Thank this.
