I am working for CTL local and am hauling sulpheric acid. CTL has bad equiptment and bad pay. I have only been driving for about 20 mos. But hey, it's a job. I need to stay local for family reasons. I applied and have been aproved for orientation to cypress for a local job out of Tampa Florida. Does anyone know about home time, pay, equiptment. etc?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cypress?

All I can tell you is that if you think ctl has bad eqmt you ant seen nothing yet!! And with only 20 mos exp you WILL be getting a very old truck and did they tell you about the two weeks over the road training with a driver? Good luck my friend! and no ive never worked there but have family that does.

I would want an offer in writing on the "local" position, frankly I don't believe it, I could be wrong. But like the other poster said, their equipment is nowhere near new, it might be well maintained, I don't know. CTL, and Comcar as a whole has been taking delivery of new trucks, I've seen it all over Florida. Simply put, if you want strictly local I would make #### sure that's what you're getting with Cypress, they will have you home every weekend, but home every night? Could be setting yourself up to be unhappy..............

To the original poster. what is your weekly take home with CTL? I just want to get an idea what is bad pay.

In the past, I looked into Cypress too. Unless they have some new "local" gig, you'll be out for a week and they try to get you home every weekend - and the key word here is "try".
Since you've only been driving local I think stabob is correct in saying that you'll have to go out with a trainer. Driving OTR and driving local are two different animals all togather.
Did you not ask Cypress' recruiter about pay, home time, etc?
You may want to give Knight Transportation a call. They have a Lakeland terminal and I know that they hire locally occasionally. Those positions fill quickly though. Worth a call.
Ryder has local jobs. Check out their website.
Another idea you may try. Go down to the TA & Flying J at exit 10 on I-4 and just hang out with a pen and paper and write down the names of all the local - or what appear to be local, trucks coming through. The Challenger Thanks this. -
