4th company driven 4,worst yet,.1st week orientation, given by an ex marine sgt.major, never driven 4 living, thinks air hose 2 clean cab plugs into cigarette lighter,2nd week off w/trainer,1st,they put a smoker in w/non smoker, pure hell 4 smoker, got 1 shower all week and had 2 bum it off another (complete stranger) driver # Pilot in Hagerstown, fuel # terminals mostly,no points,no showers, terminals have 1 shower each and get cleaned?????.hometime stinks,34hrs and off u go again w/no regard 2 ur wake/sleep rhythm, leave out 0100,next time 1600,next time who knows?Fr8 lanes totally blow,Most customers North East. Trucks underpowered and dangerous! If something happens 2 one instead of fixing it they take pictures of it,find who 2 blame 4 it and send u back out in it! They also seem 2 assume all their customers have plenty of truck parking & are more than happy 2 let u stay there.NOT! D M's all computer geeks, not ex-drivers,u know what that means. Not sure how this Co. has stayed in business 50 yrs.Late, late, late! E-logs will kill'em!

Guess what? Your sleep pattern does get out of whack oevery now and then. Just the nature of the business.
You don't like running the northeast...sorry. I don't like it either, but I do it. With a company based in Williamsport, MD, what do you expect? I rarely see any Bowman trucks south of Atlanta and west of Memphis. -
DM Bowman is a savvy businessman. Not only does he own a trucking company, but also a truckstop/fueling location, a business park AND some property development.
TruckerOllie Thanks this. -

I started out with DM Bowman back in 90 right out of school. Went with a trainer and did not stay on the road because of personal issues. When I came back to trucking in 2004 I went with them again. The first week out with a trainer was hard but that is the nature of the business. You are tired and worn out. Your sleep pattern is messed up. However, you should know this as you are not a newbie if you've driven for 5 years. Apparently, if you needed to go with a trainer there are issues on your part that need to be addressed. Instead of blaming the company look at yourself and see what you can change because there is no way to change the company whether or not that company is DM.
Regarding running the northeast. If you went to the web sight you can see they run the northeast as well as east of the Mississippi. This should not have been a surprise to you.
I no longer drive for them but for the most part when I was with them they kept me rolling and were decent to work for. Yes, at times we had our disagreements (what driver has never had a gripe with a company) but I knew who I could go too to work it out. I would always go to Don in Hagerstown and he would work it out. Whether it was in my favor or not, I knew that as a driver I had someone who I could go to.
The bottom line is no matter which company you work for, whether it's in the trucking business or not, sooner or later everyone has a problem and it depends on you how your going to work it out.Lonesome, TexasBill and kid_cardiac Thank this. -
