Alright guys, I'll start out by admitting I'm a bit of a homophobe because of some severe sexual abuse that happened to me from a gay uncle when I was a small child. It's a psychological issue that goes way back, and I try my best to overcome it to this day. I sometimes refuse to use public restrooms if they are crowded, and I'll even use a stall if someone else is at a urinal. Irt brings back bad memories and it sometimes develops into a panic attack. It just makes me irritated and very nervous to be exposed with other men, and it's simply a phobia that developed from a long-term psychological issue. Having said that, how close is the officer or company personnel standing next to you when you have to take a urine test? Do they want to stand there right next to you and watch your ##### as you actually pee, or what? I understand what they are trying to do from a security standpoint, and I don't believe anyone should be doing narcotics especially in a truck, but I don't really like some man staring at my ##### and it makes me agitated to hell. A woman can stand as close as she can and even assist me (haha!), but I'm not too welcoming to a man doing it.

In 17yrs I've never had anybody stand there and watch. Usually hand you the cup, point you to the restroom and tell you not to flush when done. Maybe some of the others have had a different experience and there are certain instances where you must be watched, but in my travels it hasn't happened and I've never given them a reason to.

I know for urine testing at my Dr. clinic, you go into a single stall bathroom with a labeled cup, fill it and place it in the cabinet that also has an outside access door and then come out, the lab retrieves it from the outside access door, you have privacy AND the sample is secure during the process.

Before you decide to be a trucker visit a few travel center restrooms . With parking for 300 trucks and 3 stalls in the men's room they get a little crowded .

The ladies normally jump at the chance to watch me pea. Some even offer to hold it for me. Had a lady doctor on her way home clock back in when she heard I was getting a diesel dummy physical.

Word of warning - I've taken two D.O.T. physicals in the last two months and both included a hernia check, so I assume that must be a required part of the test. Hopefully you can request a female nurse / physician.

so sorry for yourn experience and hope you can learn to "live in your skin". if your uncle really is gay, thats surprising. all pedophiles are disgusting, subhuman pieces of ****....and most are heterosexual.

I thought that the witnessed or observed drug tests, whatever they are called, were for someone who has already tested positive and is doing their follow up testing after their drug rehab program. That is at least the only time I have heard of it but not for sure. Don't some companies do the hair follicle testing? That shouldn't be a problem either.
    Good luck.
