I'm trying to get more info on what my options are. I know currently my idle shutdown is off, and speed is not governed. From what I've gathered there are alot more options. I feel as if the trucks not pulling to it's potential, avg fuel mileage for last 20,000 miles is 5.4. Seeing as I've replaced turbo, intercooler, chased down boost leaks, brand new head, k and n air filter, exhaust without baffles, and egr fix. I feel it should also be getting better fuel avg, pulling up grades has improved a bit since all that. I just think maybe there is something in the computer that might be limiting it.

There is nothing that you can do, as far as parameter change, to address your issues. Sounds like you checked all that you could. Your low MPG is probably due to a improper "EGR fix" I have seen many.........Too many.

Depends on the level of ptt you have and there is not enough room in this forum for me to write down every single parameter, most of the time you also need to know the parameter abbreviation, and if you mess with wrong parameter you can do a lot more damage than good, so in turn if you have to ask what parameters could be changed better i tell you nothing at all cuz you are not capable of doing this. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Well I'm not seeking the information for me to do it. Primarily I'd like to know to be informed before I take it to Volvo, I guess in my mind it makes more sense to know what my options are as opposed to going in blind.

that is true but most dealers will not listen to what you have to say when it comes to parameter programing you need to find someone that deals only with this type of work plenty of people out there dealer know just package you want it set up for and they do just this. main things you can change is shift parameters and see what the true horsepower is as far as engine goes there is little you can do to actually change the power output of the engine parameter wise, most things you can play with will be shifting parameters and some very little engine more in the protection area no dealer to my knowledge will go and set up an ecm one parameter at a time they can tell you they will do it but you will be charged for just an update usually on new software all together.

Alright, I understand that there are tuners out there that mess with all of that, but from what I've gathered they usually want to just tune your truck and charge you quite a bit of money. I would much rather prefer to go through Volvo because I feel Volvo should be more knowledgeable. I have access to view the parameters but I cannot change them, nor would I want to. Is there any literature out there that can give me some basic knowledge on the subject? The owners manual says to contact Volvo for a list of parameter options but I just can't get anyone that will give me that information. Any thoughts ?

You will need to go to a volvo dealer and they will need to PLUG IN to the truck just to find out what YOUR setting is.

If you want to then have things changed the dealer will need to order NEW SOFTWARE from volvo for your truck.. then reflash the ecm... this can take 2-3 days.... the reason is VOLVO will not let the dealer get the software until they check the spec's of YOUR truck to see what it can handle. Turk, horse power, cooling...

A volvo d12 can put out over 700 hp. BUT you could never keep it from overheating in a truck. Do you think your drive train could take over 2,000 ft truk...

A d16 in a 880 can have 625 hp BUT the same d16 can only hav 515 hp in a 780...! Why...? Because the 880 has a bigger hood so it can have a bigger radiator to keep the 625 engine cool

That the reason volvo has the check the spec's on YOUR truck
